REPOST:
Interviewer: Can you introduce yourself?
Candidate: I am an Electrical Engineer with experience in power system studies and design engineering.
I have worked on load flow, short circuit, protection coordination, arc flash, cable sizing, and equipment selection using tools such as ETAP, DIgSILENT Power Factory, PSS®E, and PSCAD.
Interviewer: What is the purpose of a load flow study?
Candidate: A load flow study helps determine voltage levels, power flow, system losses, and loading of electrical equipment under normal operating conditions.
It ensures the system operates safely and efficiently.
Interviewer: Why is short-circuit analysis important?
Candidate: Short-circuit analysis calculates fault currents in the system. The results help in selecting circuit breakers, switchgear ratings, and protection devices capable of safely interrupting fault currents.
Interviewer: What factors do you consider for cable sizing?
Candidate: I consider current carrying capacity, voltage drop, short-circuit withstand capability, installation conditions, and future load expansion requirements.
Interviewer: What is protection coordination?
Candidate: Protection coordination ensures that the nearest protective device to a fault operates first, minimizing the impact on the rest of the power system and improving reliability.
Interviewer: What software tools have you used?
Candidate: I have experience with ETAP, DIgSILENT PowerFactory, PSS®E, PSCAD, CDEGS, PVsyst, and Homer Pro for power system studies, renewable energy analysis, and electrical design projects.
Interviewer: How do you select a transformer?
Candidate: Transformer selection is based on load demand, voltage levels, future expansion, impedance requirements, efficiency, cooling method, and applicable standards.
Interviewer: What standards do you follow in electrical design?
Candidate: Depending on project requirements, I follow IEC, IEEE, NEC, NFPA, and local utility standards for equipment selection, protection, and system design.
Interviewer: Why should we hire you?
Candidate: I combine power system theory with practical simulation and design experience.
My ability to perform studies, analyze results, and provide engineering solutions helps deliver safe, reliable, and cost effective power systems.
