The challenge was to create a modern icon from the founder's initials '𝐠', embodying friendliness, flexibility, and functionality, symbolizing evolution and innovation in traditional building practices. In the Philippines, a 𝙩𝙮𝙥𝙞𝙘𝙖𝙡 𝙢𝙤𝙧𝙣𝙞𝙣𝙜 𝙧𝙤𝙪𝙩𝙞𝙣𝙚 of an average filipino neighborhood is taking their breakfasts outside enjoying the street view or conversation with a neighbor or sometimes alone with their newspaper, pandesal and a good cup of coffee. It is just one way on how most filipinos enjoy their breakfast, "𝘵𝘢𝘮𝘣𝘢𝘺 𝘴𝘢 𝘭𝘢𝘣𝘢𝘴" as they say. Filipinos are generally warm and inviting. They also have very close family ties and enjoy being surrounded by crowds so they value friendly relation with their neighbors.

The proposed 𝗣𝗮𝗻 𝗗𝗲 𝗠𝗮𝘀𝗮 aims to design a timeless bakery and cafe defining the filipino neighborhood identity. In this design, the challenge is to create a gathering maximizing the 7.5 square meter commercial lot in the middle of the city. It was designed as an open window counter creating an inviting dining area.

The designer incorporated a typical 𝗰𝗵𝗮𝗶𝗿 𝗼𝗿 𝗯𝗮𝗻𝗴𝗸𝗼 found outside on most filipino homes. The provision of a common "𝙩𝙖𝙢𝙗𝙖𝙮𝙖𝙣" which is a filipino trait of sharing daily kwentuhan re-imagining the idea of breakfast at the street. This will serve as the bakery and cafe's instagram-worthy corner that embodies the typical breakfast routine of most filipinos that creates a flexible meeting space that encourages residents to socialize, gather and connect.

Finding a perfect food pair with your breakfast can be a challenge. Fret not because Pan De Masa serve both specialty pastries and coffee for almusal. They offer favorite Pinoy breads "𝙥𝙖𝙣𝙜 𝙈𝙖𝙨𝙖" paired with customer's choice of coffee.

𝗟𝗢𝗚𝗢 𝗖𝗢𝗡𝗖𝗘𝗣𝗧

The brandmark was inspired by the word 𝙈𝙖𝙨𝙖 in english means a group of people or 𝘵𝘢𝘰𝘯𝘨-𝘣𝘢𝘺𝘢𝘯 in filipino. It is also means 𝘥𝘰𝘶𝘨𝘩 or used in making bread. Forming a bread shaped-like, the outlines was inspired by a 𝗵𝗮𝗻𝗱𝘀𝗵𝗮𝗸𝗲 which is a symbolic gesture of mutual bond represents brotherhood. Following the existing social cultural pattern of starting the day with a greeting to fellow pinoys.

𝗪𝗵𝗮𝘁'𝘀 𝘆𝗼𝘂𝗿 𝗮𝗿𝗰𝗵𝗶𝘁𝗲𝗰𝘁𝘂𝗿𝗮𝗹 𝘀𝘁𝘆𝗹𝗲?

I dont usually focus too much and do exact realistic renders (though some of them are final renders as per client's request). In any case, I will combine realistic and artistic 3D visualization. Conceptual are non-photorealistic technique which is based on the photorealistic one.

As a designer, I embraced open-ended type of imagery because I believe there's an impact of perception with the client that would still help them imagine what's lacking and what's needed 🙂

I do enjoy the creative process of creating unrealistic environment, people, entourage, textures, all final touches. Not against realistic renders but instead go with whichever medium, tool you're flexible with, your techniques and your own style.

The final image — Cabin in the Wood Series in Catskills Mountain Region. Although the lighting is theoretical since the orientation of the big window should be facing north, this is how I assembled the narration of the ideal sunset experience into this look and feel. The image appears quite hot in the cold mountain of New York States, makes it look like there’s something inviting about the interior spaces.
