Product Spotlight: CET cGas | IR Refrigerant Detector

Early detection of refrigerant leaks is essential for protecting building occupants from harmful exposure, minimizing the loss of costly refrigerants, and reducing energy consumption. The cGas IR Refrigerant Detector offers continuous, precise monitoring of a wide range of refrigerant gases commonly used in HVAC and refrigeration systems.

Equipped with dual-beam, non-dispersive infrared (NDIR) sensor technology, the cGas Detector delivers accurate gas detection without cross-interference from other gases. It is low maintenance, has a long operational lifespan, and is available with either analog or digital output. Each unit includes a relay and internal audible alarm and comes in two enclosure styles to suit different installation environments. Powered by low-voltage VAC/DC, the detector integrates seamlessly into a complete gas detection system using either the FCS Flexible Control System or the cGas-SC Self-Contained Controller.

Safety and Compliance Additions:
Manual shut-off switch and top-mounted strobe for emergency response
Remote devices such as the RDM Remote Display Module and RSW-E Remote Switch provide visual gas level confirmation and remote equipment shutdown at secondary entrances
Fully compliant with ASHRAE 15 and CSA B52 standards when used as part of a complete detection system

If refrigerant concentrations exceed preset thresholds, the CGAS-D-IR Detector activates its alarm and sends a signal to the FCS Controller. The system then initiates safety protocols including audible alarms, mechanical ventilation, equipment shutdown, and emergency response notification. This process protects maintenance personnel, ensures regulatory compliance, and helps prevent environmental damage caused by refrigerant emissions.
