VBo is a Philippine-based group of architects, designers, engineers and thinkers involved in planning, architectural and engineering design, project management and building information modelling. Each member of the team gained holistic experiences from the top architectural design, project management and engineering firms in the Philippines. The guest rooms sit low and spread out, arranged around a central pool.

We planned this part of the development as a small village of buildings rather than a single hotel block. Thatch roofs over stone walls. Timber screens that pull the sea breeze through and hold the afternoon sun back. Planting comes right up to the walkways between buildings.

Nothing goes above two storeys, so the rooflines stay under the tree line.

We spent the early part of this project looking at what the island had already worked out.

Cogon grass thatch sits high and traps cool air under the roof. Bamboo has been in the hands of the fishing community here for generations. The houses themselves cluster tight around shared ground, because a breeze and a patch of shade are worth more when everyone can reach them.

All of it is in the villas now. The cogon pitches high over each roof and bamboo runs through the screens. A single pool sits in the middle with every villa turned toward it.

Third and last of the series, this time from the inside.

Timber slats run the length of the ceiling and carry warmth into the room. Light arrives through sheer curtains, diffused enough that nothing casts a hard edge.

How a finished room feels gets decided in the drawings, and by the time furniture comes into the conversation, the room is already what it is.

Every site has its own logic, and this one made it clear early on. The land rises, the views open up, and the design follows from there. We let the slope do most of the work, anchoring the house to the ground while letting it breathe outward.

The material choices came naturally from the setting: stone cladding at the base, warm timber along the facade, generous glazing that keeps the inside connected to the landscape around it.

Good design doesn't announce itself. This one simply belongs.

The client's business is glass fabrication, so we built that into the design from the start. The 275 sqm home is wrapped in a curtain wall facade that lets the material carry the story.

Agda Beach Villas · The Talisay Villa

Named after the talisay trees that line the shore, this is the property's beachfront villa. The rooms open completely to the sand, so the bed sits a few steps from the beach.

Inside, the palette is deliberately quiet: concrete, hardwood, rattan, and terrazzo, with glazing placed to frame the greenery instead of blocking it out. Every bedroom includes a work station with a beach view, built for stays that run longer than a weekend.
