“The Role of the Youth in Saving What We Stand to Lose”
April 30, 2026 | Via Zoom
District 3830 Youth Service Initiative
An inspiring and thought-provoking virtual event titled “The Role of the Youth in Saving What We Stand to Lose” was successfully conducted on April 30, 2026, via Zoom. This initiative, led by the District 3830 Youth Service, gathered RYLA graduates, Interactors, and young eco-leaders across the district in celebration of Environment Month.
The event was proudly spearheaded by several Rotary clubs, with the Rotary Club of Parañaque Metro serving as one of the lead clubs in organizing and hosting the activity. This reflects the club’s strong commitment to youth development and environmental advocacy.
The session featured guest speaker Jandrie L. Layba, a Maritime graduate, Social Media and Communications Practitioner, and Environmental Advocate based in Plaridel, Bulacan. Known for his dedication to sustainability, youth engagement, and climate awareness, Layba delivered a compelling talk emphasizing the urgency of environmental action and the vital role of the youth in safeguarding the future.
Central to the discussion was the SEED Concept: Seed, Grow, Bloom, Connect, Be Bothered, and Act—a framework encouraging young leaders to begin with awareness and transform it into meaningful action. The speaker underscored that development begins at awareness and highlighted that listening is also a form of learning*, encouraging participants to remain open, informed, and engaged.
Our very own IPP Randy Pabona, the District Youth Chair further reinforced this message by emphasizing the crucial role of the youth in preserving the environment. He encouraged participants to take initiative in their respective communities, reminding them that collective action, no matter how small, can lead to lasting environmental impact.
Layba called on the youth to recognize their influence in shaping a sustainable future, stressing that even small, consistent actions can lead to significant environmental change. Through relatable examples and practical insights, he inspired attendees to take ownership of their roles as stewards of the environment.
The event was attended by key district leaders and Rotarian supporters, including:
* Incoming DRR Vincent Naval
* Youth Protection Chair Brenda Del Rosario
* Rotary Club UGPs: Judith (Makati Greenbelt), Cathy (Cosmopolitan Las Piñas), and Beatriz (Parañaque Central)
* Protocol Chair Lilibeth De La Cruz
* RYLA Chair Barbie Rivadeneira
This meaningful gathering was made possible through the collaboration of the Rotary Clubs of Cosmopolitan Las Piñas, Makati Olympia, Muntinlupa Central, Parañaque Metro, and Puerto Princesa Central.
Overall, the event served as a powerful reminder that the youth are not just future leaders—but leaders of today. With the right mindset, awareness, and action, they hold the key to preserving what we stand to lose and building a better, more sustainable world.
