Our team explored WORLDBEX 2025 always a great place to discover new ideas in construction and design.

This year, solar technology had a big presence, and it was great to see BillionBricks there. We also came across innovative construction methods/ materials like light gauge steel My Strong Home, autoclaved aerated concrete (AAC), and Expanded Polystyrene (EPS) panels. There was also a surprising number of booths showcasing wood alternatives like wood plastic composite (WPC), stone plastic composite (SPC), and fluted panels. We noticed a growing interest in sintered stone, a new approach to synthetic stone. Despite James Hardie's departure, fiber cement (FICEM) boards are still alive with Knauf Philippines and SHERA Philippines.

Bringing our team and meeting suppliers is something we prioritize, not just to stay informed but to strengthen relationships that allow us to deliver better solutions.

On the road to making designs that matter, we should start by asking the right questions.

Last Saturday, our Design Director Ar. Tim Wong was invited to speak at UXPH (User Experience Philippines) meetup on "Designing Smart Cities." Drawing from his experience living in Singapore, Asia's no. 1 smart city, he contrasted it with Manila's current standing in the smart city rankings. Instead of feeling disheartened, he encourages us to take a solution-based mindset and see these surveys as a roadmap to progress.

He emphasized that before aiming for advanced features and technology, it's best to understand the needs of the people we are designing for. He shared our work and how our basic framework delivers human-centered architectural solutions by addressing core questions:

1. Who are we designing for?
2. Are we solving the right problem?
3. Which solutions apply to them?

He concluded by stating that technology matters only when applied to the right situation. And by improving the quality of our questions, we can discover the smart solutions that are right for us.

Thank you to UXPH and its members for the opportunity to share these insights. Thanks also to the speakers for providing much food for thought in designing better places for people!

For our restaurant clients, we've had the privilege of working on designs that go beyond serving a meal, it's serving an experience—a blend of exceptional food, inviting ambiance, and the joy of sharing it all with wonderful company

That's why we're thrilled to be part of the list of beautiful restaurants picked by design professionals.

In these dining spots, interiors give off main character energy in the best way possible.

Last week, our team visited WORLDBEX 2024, a convention all about construction and design. It was a chance for us to check out new things and learn about trends that could help us with our client projects.

Some technologies caught our attention like light gauge steel construction, developments in window hardware, heat protection, and waterproofing, those products that make construction more efficient, or those that improve building performance. It's also nice to see that green technologies like rainwater harvesting and solar panels are more accessible these days.

Worldbex is always an event we look forward to and we're excited to see how these discoveries can help us deliver better designs.

Thank you to Kanto for allowing us to share the story behind the design of Taquería Franco!

"We suggested the use of common materials or those that you see on the street, such as concrete, tiles, and steel. It’s how these materials were put together that makes the space elevated. We could say that this design strategy is comparable to how they decided on their menu, as they serve common food such as tacos but add flair to it by applying French techniques that they’ve learned from training. "
