We are looking for Laboratory Manager
Key Responsibilities:
Laboratory Operations:
-Oversee day-to-day laboratory operations, including scheduling tests, managing workflows, and ensuring efficient use of equipment.
-Ensure that all geotechnical tests are conducted according to standard procedures and industry best practices.
-Ensure compliance with regulatory standards and accreditation (e.g., ASTM, ISO, AASHTO, or other local standards).
Staff Supervision and Training:
-Manage laboratory personnel, including technicians, engineers, and researchers.
-Provide training on testing procedures, equipment use, and safety protocols.
Supervise and guide staff to ensure accurate and reliable test results.
Test Methods and Quality Control:
-Oversee the application of various geotechnical tests, such as soil classification, compaction, shear strength, consolidation, permeability, and other material properties.
-Implement and monitor a quality control program to ensure the consistency and accuracy of test results.
-Conduct audits of laboratory practices to ensure compliance with quality standards.
Equipment Maintenance and Calibration:
-Ensure that laboratory equipment, such as soil testing machines, compaction equipment, and triaxial test apparatus, is properly maintained, calibrated, and in good working condition.
-Coordinate with maintenance staff for repairs and calibrations.
Safety and Compliance:
-Enforce safety protocols to minimize risks associated with working with hazardous materials (e.g., chemicals, machinery).
-Ensure that the laboratory complies with health and safety regulations, environmental guidelines, and any other relevant legislation.
-Organize regular safety drills and audits.
Test Data Management and Reporting:
-Oversee the accurate recording, analysis, and reporting of test results.
-Ensure that all data is properly documented, stored, and accessible for future reference.
-Prepare and review technical reports summarizing test findings, making recommendations based on data analysis.
Inventory and Budget Management:
-Monitor laboratory supplies, including soil samples, testing materials, and chemicals, and ensure the lab is sufficiently stocked.
-Assist in managing the laboratory’s budget, including purchasing new equipment and managing expenses.
Client Interaction:
-If the laboratory provides services to external clients (e.g., construction companies, engineering firms), the manager may interact with clients to discuss project requirements, timelines, and specific testing needs.
-Review client reports and ensure that the tests are conducted to meet the project specifications.
Research and Development:
-Stay updated on new testing technologies and methods in the field of geotechnical engineering.
-Assist in the development or improvement of testing procedures and protocols.
