My flytraps and some neps may have struggled, but the sundews are happy as long as they get their light and water! I overfill their deep water trays constantly and they appreciate never going dry.

Some toasted Mako sharks. 🥹

Why did some of my plants die? I say it's because of the heat, but I also have other factors that contributed: my gardening routines were impacted by a volatile schedule, an ongoing renovation in our space, and personal events that gave me less bandwidth to spare.

Could I have done more? Of course, but I chose not to drown myself with plant chores in unholy heat while physically and mentally spent. I top-watered every 2-3 days, I cleared dead leaves to expose new growth better when I had time between orders, and overall did the best I could. Sometimes things just happen outside your control, and that's ok. I learned a lot this summer season and will prepare better next year.

I may not be an artist, but I can understand the frustration of investing time and effort without any payoff, as well as feeling betrayed by something you believed in. I hope everyone affected experiences relief and abundance this year, despite all the anxiety the community is currently facing.

I have events with PoTA this year, but I will provide updates in case there are any significant changes from me.

In the meantime, I'm still making my way through orders, a few packages at a time due to a volatile schedule, but please let me know if expediting/refunds are needed.

Things have been rough, but acknowledging the anxiety and stress while taking a step back until I can actively take steps to reorganize and rebuild.

Thank you everyone who's been patiently waiting for their orders to be fulfilled. I'm trying to make sure the plants I ship are healthy, and replacing ones that showed signs of dying back. If you have scheduling preferences, feel free to message me!

The heat, an ongoing renovation, and real-life things compounded a bunch of issues I couldn't fix at once, but if anything, I learned to slow down and just do what I can while coming to terms with how I did my best with what I had. There were losses, but ultimately, I know I can bounce back with some time (and rain omg).

Despite repotting for space, regularly watering, and growing under grow lights, sometimes flytraps just... give out, like these Red Piranhas 💀 These also had good airflow in my balcony, but simply didn't make it while other cultivars did. I still have a few of these red flytraps at least.

I have more ways to approach next year's heat wave for an overall better outcome, but for now, I'm just learning from the losses. Like switching my grow lights on at night and off during the day instead to minimize the heat generated, as advised by an awesome commenter Keith McGovern (thank you!) 💡

N. Ampullaria black, like all ampullaria pitcher plants, has the lovely trait of producing lots of basals. These can clump in large numbers and look like a small bush at the base of the main vining plant 💚

Currently my biggest self-pollinating sundew: D. Tokaiensis, all sticky and spoony. Very similar to Spatulata, and honestly if this didn't come with a label, I'd have called it Spatulata instead.

Cute Ampullaria Hot Lips speckled pitcher, on a growing vine that I'll definitely be propagating when renovations are finished and I can garden more freely ✨
