Carbon Fiber Reinforced Polymer (CFRP) Sheets are one of the most significant innovations in composite materials, evolving from aerospace applications into a widely accepted solution for structural strengthening and rehabilitation.

Early Development (1950s–1960s)

The foundation of CFRP technology began with the development of high-strength carbon fibers in the late 1950s. Researchers sought materials that were stronger than steel but much lighter. During the early 1960s, scientists successfully produced carbon fibers with exceptional tensile strength and stiffness by heat-treating synthetic precursor fibers, such as polyacrylonitrile (PAN).

Commercial Production (1970s)

By the 1970s, carbon fiber manufacturing had matured, making the material commercially available. CFRP composites were first adopted in:
