A coastal residence shaped by its environment and experience.

This modern tropical home features a form and massing strategy that minimizes heat gain and maximizes airflow, embracing the principles of climate-responsive design. Oriented toward the beachfront, it offers seamless indoor-outdoor living. The program includes a guest house designed for entertaining, a man cave with a gym and automotive tools for motor enthusiasts, and a lap pool integrated with a kids’ area—balancing leisure, functionality, and tropical living.

Playpals Baguio

As I travel up and down to Baguio—from the first sketches to the final touches—I can’t help but wonder: could our design be inspired by Kennon Road? Or any road that winds through and into Baguio, really. After all, it was in this city where I pursued my architectural studies.

Through my exploration and training, I’ve come to appreciate the practicality of grids in organizing space. They provide order, clarity, and cohesion. But great design often emerges when we intentionally and purposefully break away from the grid.

In our design parti, we found that curved walls responded better to the inherently odd-shaped interior. Instead of forcing a rigid layout, we embraced the irregularity—turning a challenge into an opportunity.

Here, curves aren’t just an aesthetic choice. They are a design solution.

They allow us to maximize the use of space, encourage fluid movement that fosters dynamic learning, and add a chic, playful character to the entire project.

French Tropical Residence
The French Tropical Residence project seamlessly blends classic French architectural elegance with the practicalities of the Philippine tropical climate, integrating French lines with tropical design principles. The building's form is shaped by maximizing local airflow while capturing stunning views of the nearby beach. This results in a sophisticated, comfortable, and culturally sensitive home, harmonizing two distinct architectural approaches while responding directly to its unique environment.
