5.4.4 Face and Eye Protection
5.4.4.1 Face and eye protectors are available in a wide variety of designs. Careful consideration should be given to the characteristics of the perspective hazard to ensure the selection of the appropriate protector.
5.4.4.2. Ordinary prescription (Corrective) spectacles, unless manufactured to a safety standard, do not afford protection. Certain box type goggles are designed so that they can be worn over ordinary spectacles.

5.4.2 Head protection :
5.4.2.1 Helmets may be designed for different purposes. A helmet designed to provide protection from objects falling from above may not be suitable for protecting seafarers from chemical splashes. Thus, it may be necessary to carry different types of helmets on particular ships.
5.4.2.2: In general, the shell of a helmet should be of one-piece construction, with an adjustable cradle inside to aupport the helmet on the wearer's head and, where appropriate, a chin-strap to prevent the helmet from falling off.
5.4.2.3: The cradle and chin-strap should be properly adjusted as soon as the helmet is put on to ensure a snug fit.
