Murree is the elite institution of Pakistan with time-tested, glorious traditions in the fields of academics, co and extra curricular activities, created by its pupils, popularly known as ‘Gallians’. Lawrence College is a public school on the pattern of the well-known public schools of the world. Established in 1860 after Sir Henry Lawrence, the oldest residential institution of its type in Pakist

an. Lawrence College started as an asylum with the object to provide a plain and practical education to the orphans and the children of the British soldiers in India. It had 82 children in its care initially. The number rose to 204 boys and 101 girls in 1914 when it was taken over by the Government of the Punjab as the Lawrence Memorial School, and 356 boys and 124 girls, when it became the Lawrence College in 1927, with the construction of the Lower Estate. The Girls Section was transferred to Saint Denny's School Murree in 1949. The college was handed over to the Board of Governors in 1962 (Grant of Autonomy by the Punjab Government) effective todate. Today, there are about 715 boys on the roll of the three schools. The number is expected to rise further, as the time passes. Location

The Lawrence College, Ghora Gali, Murree is situated at the beautiful foothills of the Himalayas at a height of about 1950 meters (6397 feet) above the sea level, on a pine-covered spur. The estate covers an area of about 150 acres and lies at a distance of about 2 km from the Rawalpindi-Murree Road, some 4 km from Murree and 57 km from Rawalpindi. In summers, the temperature seldom reaches 35C. Monsoon rains of July and August are intermittent. During the cold weather, when the estate is usually snow-bound, the college is closed for about three months, from December to February.

Learning is a never-ending process, and its true value emerges when ideas are shared in a positive spirit. Mutual collaboration between institutions reflects a shared commitment to providing the very best opportunities and environment for students. Learning, striving, and growing together remain the key to progress.

To continue this spirit of mutual learning and collaboration, a delegation from Aitchison College RLC visited Lawrence College Ghora Gali on 21st and 22nd May 2026. The visiting team comprised two Housemasters, two Housemistresses, and the RLC Coordinator. Their visit primarily focused on understanding various aspects of boarding life and related institutional practices.

The delegation was briefed in detail regarding boarding procedures and policies, including student life, excursions, digital usage, duties and schedules of house staff, discipline matters, and other important operational practices. The LCGG team, comprising the DOS and senior faculty members, shared their experiences and systems comprehensively.

The purpose of the visit was mutual learning, with both institutions discussing practices and approaches in order to learn from each other and further strengthen their boarding systems. The delegation also visited dormitories, prep halls, chapel and common rooms, and interacted warmly with the students.

The visiting team later met the Principal, Brig Jawad Ahmad Zaka SI(M) Retd., who reaffirmed the importance of strengthening ties between the two prestigious institutions through continued sharing of ideas, practices, and support.

Souvenirs were exchanged as a gesture of goodwill and respect. It is hoped that this bond between two historic and traditional boarding institutions will continue to grow in the best interest of students and society at large.

The Meet and Greet Session brought together parents and the Junior School staff in a warm, welcoming, and engaging environment, and the event proved to be highly fruitful. It provided a valuable platform for meaningful interaction and strengthened coordination and understanding between parents and the school. During the session, the respective housemistresses shared comprehensive reports on boarders’ settlement, well-being, and academic progress, enabling parents to gain a clear insight into their children’s overall development.
To make the occasion lively and interactive, a variety of fun and knowledgeable activities were thoughtfully arranged. Parents actively participated in engaging activities such as the Seed Ball and Magic Pen activities, while children thoroughly enjoyed face painting. These activities added a vibrant and joyful touch to the session, making it enjoyable for all families.
Parents also appreciated the newly renovated TV room, expressing their satisfaction with its improved appearance and comfortable environment. They regarded it as a useful and interactive resource for students, enhancing both learning and recreational experiences.
The session was further enriched by the presence of Principal Brig. Jawad Ahmed Zaka, SI(M) (Retd.), and Mrs. Shahla Saif, Headmistress, who personally interacted with parents, attentively listened to their concerns, and gathered valuable feedback and constructive suggestions aimed at further improving the students’ academic and boarding experience.
Overall, the session strengthened communication, built trust, and created a positive and memorable experience for both parents and the Junior School staff.

The Science Department of the Junior School organized an engaging Seed Ball Activity to promote environmental awareness and experiential learning among students. The activity provided an opportunity for the boys to connect with nature through a practical and enjoyable task.
Under the guidance of their teachers, the students learned how to prepare seed balls using soil, clay, and seeds. They actively participated in mixing and shaping the materials, showing great enthusiasm and interest throughout the process. This hands-on experience sparked their curiosity about nature, helping them understand how seeds grow and the importance of plants in maintaining a healthy environment.
The activity also encouraged creativity, as each student carefully crafted seed balls in different shapes and sizes. It allowed them to express their ideas while engaging in meaningful learning. The boys remained attentive and cooperative, reflecting a positive and focused learning environment.
Overall, the activity enhanced their basic scientific understanding while encouraging thoughtful participation. The Islamiat Department of the Junior School organized a Manasik-e-Hajj Activity to help students develop a clear and structured understanding of the rituals of Hajj. The activity was designed to reinforce classroom learning through a practical and visual approach.
During the session, the boys participated in a guided demonstration of the steps of Hajj, where each stage was explained in sequence. The use of simple, real-life examples helped students understand the order and significance of the rituals more effectively.
To enhance conceptual clarity, key locations associated with Hajj, including Mina, Arafat, Muzdalifah, and the Kaaba, were carefully represented. This setup enabled students to visualize the entire process and connect theoretical knowledge with a practical framework.
In addition, short quizzes were conducted to assess students’ understanding and reinforce key concepts. The activity encouraged active participation, attentiveness, and meaningful engagement throughout the session.
The overall environment remained disciplined and focused, allowing students to benefit fully from the experience.
In light of this, the Manasik-e-Hajj Activity served as a valuable learning experience, helping students strengthen their understanding of Hajj through observation, participation, and short oral quizzes in a clear and respectful manner.

🏓 Faculty Table Tennis Competition 2026 🏓

After a lapse of 15 years, the Staff Club of Lawrence College once again came alive with the spirit of sportsmanship and healthy competition through the Faculty Table Tennis Competition 2026.

The competition commenced on 7 May 2026 and continued till 20 May 2026, with four exciting matches being played daily. Faculty members participated with great enthusiasm, energy, and sporting spirit throughout the event.

The semifinals were played on 17 and 19 May 2026, where Mr. Rizwan Waheed and Mr. Nasir Ali qualified for the final. The final match, played on 20 May 2026, proved to be a thrilling and well-contested encounter. Mr. Rizwan Waheed emerged victorious after an impressive performance.

The Principal LCGG Brig Jawad Ahmad Zaka SM(I) Retd. graced the occasion as the Chief Guest and further added to the excitement by playing a doubles match with the finalists, which was thoroughly enjoyed by all present. At the conclusion of the event, refreshments were served to the participants and spectators.

Such healthy recreational activities provide faculty members an opportunity to sit together, interact, and enjoy an informal and friendly environment beyond routine academic responsibilities. These events serve as a refreshing break from monotonous schedules and play an important role in promoting both physical and mental well-being, while also strengthening camaraderie and team spirit among staff members.

In the age of Artificial Intelligence and modern technology, Pakistan is making remarkable strides in innovation and research. Lawrence College proudly witnessed this progress during a highly insightful visit to AXI, arranged by our distinguished alumnus, Dr Sohail Malik (Inter 2000, Jinnah House), PhD in Machine Learning and Mechanical Engineering, specializing in UAVs, AI, Robotics, and Machine Design. He is currently serving as CTO of AXI and Founder of DroneTec.

The Lawrence College delegation, comprising Principal Brig Jawad Ahmad Zaka SM(I) Retd, Director of Studies Uzma Afzal, along with Science and IT faculty members, explored cutting-edge initiatives in AI, robotics, 3D printing, and emerging technologies. The team visited various project sections, robotics labs, and innovative setups contributing to education, industry, armed forces, and other sectors.

The delegation also visited SINES, where advanced drone technologies being used in agriculture, disaster management, firefighting, and national security were showcased.

The visit opened promising avenues for collaboration in areas such as student internships, teacher training, and robotics initiatives at Lawrence College. Dr Sohail Malik assured his full support and cooperation for his alma mater.

It was truly an inspiring experience, highlighting the immense potential, talent, and innovative spirit working for the progress of Pakistan.

Interactive Orientation Session for Prospective Parents

Continuing its tradition of excellence, Lawrence College strongly believes in fostering a close and effective partnership among parents, the college, and students.
In this regard, an orientation session for the parents of applicants seeking admission to the First Year class was held at the college on 17 May 2026. The parents were briefed about college activities, routines, policies, pastoral care, and the overall functioning of the institution by Director of Studies, Ms. Uzma Afzal. Queries specifically related to the Senior School routine were addressed by Deputy Housemaster Senior School, Mr. Ishaq Khan.
The parents showed great enthusiasm and keen interest regarding the admission of their sons and actively engaged in meaningful discussions about boarding life and the unique hostel experience.
Principal Brig. Jawad Ahmad Zaka SI(M) (Retd.) assured the parents of a fair and transparent selection process and highlighted the college’s commitment towards providing the best possible care, career guidance, academic support, character building, and all possible opportunities for the holistic development of students.
