Blending modern trends with inherited pieces and old items, which have sentimental importance, is what makes our homes unique. Keeping this in mind, we started off by mapping out the circulation patterns of the room. With the fireplace as our main focal point, we planned the space and re-arranged the client’s belongings accordingly. Our aim was to make the space feel open and welcoming; clearly defining its multiple zones, namely the entertainment area, the den by the lakeside and a reading nook.
The existing sofas were reupholstered in a monochromatic shade to compliment the fireplace’s white stone. To create contrast, accent furniture, pillows and rugs in earthy tones were added. Rugs further provide the essential textural difference and help reinforce areas within our space by anchoring furniture.
The centerpiece, side tables and console are in mixed finishes of wood, glass and metal. The brushed metal legs infuse a sophisticated detail and polish to the living room. These metallic accents continue in decorative wall frames and sconces.
The overall look of the living room is transformed into a modern, earthy and textured decor style, echoing the colors, appearance and finishes of the natural world.
