Sethi House Peshawar The Sethi house building was built by Karim Baksh Sethi in 1884 and the house was purchased by the Directorate of Archaeology & Museums in 2006.

The Sethi's of Peshawar are known to have migrated from Bhera situated on the left bank of river Jehlum at the time when the Sikhs established their rule in Punjab. They first settled at Chamkani, a small village across the river Bara, and then after a while shifted to Peshawar. The Sethis were not only rich but also great philanthropists. They are known to have completed several works of public u

tility such as the construction of mosques and bridges. Their houses show delicate wood carvings set in a typical oriental style of architecture. They present the best modal of The house of an early 20th century rich man. the house was purchased by the Directorate of Archaeology & Museums, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa in 2006. The area of this house is 33 Marlas. The house was built by Karim Baksh Sethi in 1884. It is highly embellished building in a typical oriental style of the domestic architecture , presenting highly carved wooden doors, windows, decorated and painted ceiling and elaborated system of light penetration and air movement.
