🚓 Themed equipment can define the character of an entire play zone even before the play begins. TRANSPORTO uses motifs familiar to children, such as a police vehicle, and turns them into a starting point for imaginative role play. One playset can inspire dozens of scenarios: going on patrol, responding to an emergency, returning to the station, assigning roles or creating an entirely new story.

When designing this type of zone, the appearance of the equipment is only one part of the process. Access routes, visibility from seating areas for caregivers and connections with other activities are equally important. A well-chosen theme helps create a place that children understand at first glance and want to explore in their own way.

What makes a small playground playhouse suitable for so many different kinds of play?

It's not the number of predefined functions, but the space it leaves for children's imagination.

In our article about TEGELO, we explore how a familiar theme encourages children to start playing, why open-ended play supports creating stories together, and how small details and moving elements can work together in one cohesive play area.

This is also important from a designer's perspective. Younger children need spaces not only for physical activity, but also for talking, observing, role-playing and exploring at their own pace.

🌱 When discussing responsible design, it is worth starting with one simple question: how long will the solution continue to serve its users well?

A playground is used every day in demanding conditions. That is why material durability, surface protection, maintenance options and regular inspections should be considered from the very beginning of the design process.

In the new FLORO series, the steel structure is protected by hot-dip galvanising and powder coating. This is one of the elements that contributes to the equipment's resistance in public spaces.

A longer life cycle means less frequent replacement of equipment and more efficient use of materials. Environmental responsibility therefore does not end with the choice of raw material. It also means designing for many years of use.

In modern residential developments, recreational areas are increasingly becoming an integral part of the overall design rather than an addition planned at the very end.
A well-designed space can combine different functions: children's play, physical activity for teenagers and adults, relaxation and greenery. The key is to create a coherent layout in which individual user groups have their own zones while the entire area still works as one connected space.
Street Workout equipment can become an important part of such a concept. It introduces opportunities for outdoor exercise and complements playground and relaxation zones without disrupting the overall character of the landscape.
The result is a multifunctional recreational area that responds to the everyday needs of residents and makes better use of the available space.

FLORO was designed so that a playground can work harmoniously with its surroundings.

Plant-inspired forms, a subtle colour palette and transparent elements allow the equipment to blend naturally into the greenery of a park or residential development. At the same time, light passing through the flowers and leaves creates colourful reflections that change with the position of the sun.

For designers, this adds another interesting dimension. It is not only the layout of functions that matters, but also the orientation of the equipment in relation to light and its surroundings.

FLORO combines this visual effect with active play, climbing and the discovery of different routes.

A small element can completely change the way equipment is used.
LUMO discs respond to movement with light. A child sets them in motion and immediately sees the effect. This interaction encourages experimentation, supports hand-eye coordination and naturally demonstrates the relationship between an action and the equipment's response.
LUMO is used across various Inter Play products. In the LUMO PLAY series, the concept has been expanded with light, sound and additional control options.
The LUMO PLAY app allows the equipment to connect to a smartphone via Bluetooth and control features such as music, lighting and volume. Users can also play their own music, while administrator settings make it possible to adapt how the equipment works to the time of day and the character of the space.
Tornado LUMO PLAY is a good example of how a familiar roundabout form can gain an entirely new dimension of play. Movement, light and sound work together to create a more engaging experience without imposing one specific way of using the equipment.

TEGELO 5 is an excellent example of our approach to playground equipment design. It shows how many functions can be combined in one relatively compact structure.

The playhouse creates space for role play. The tunnel encourages exploration and movement between different zones. The inclined element with handholds adds physical activity and another challenge. The whole design is tied together by a forest theme that gives children a clear starting point for creating their own stories.

This multifunctionality was exactly what attracted attention at the trade fair. One playset can support movement, communication, shared play and imagination without imposing a single scenario.

When planning the space, the position of the equipment and its safety zone should of course be adapted to the specific site and the model documentation.
