Toro Arquitectos is a widely recognized architectural design firm located in San Juan, Puerto Rico.

Continuing a legacy of excellence in architecture in Puerto Rico begun by his father over 65 years ago, Jose Javier Toro founded Toro Arquitectos, in 2010 after 18 years as partner in Toro Ferrer Arquitectos. With over 25 years of experience, the firm’s design quality and sensibility are evident in each project and have been widely recognized with publications and Awards from local and national AIA Chapters and the XI Architecture Biennale of Puerto Rico.

Toro Arquitectos is happy to announce that our design for Secret Magic Pool Garden has received a Honorable Mention in the American Architecture Awards 2025 from the Chicago Atheneum and Metropolitan Arts Press.

The American Architecture Awards are the nation’s highest and most prestigious distinguished building awards program that honor new and cutting-edge design in the United States. This annual program, organized our institutions, also promotes American architecture and design to our public audience in the U.S. and abroad.

We are pleased to announce that our projects, the Weekend Pavilion and Ciales Kindergarten, received a Merit Award for Unbuilt Work and a Merit Award of Excellence for New Work at the 2025 Design and Honor Awards by AIA Florida, a chapter of the American Institute of Architects.

We acknowledge the valuable contributions of our team at Toro Arquitectos: Eliza Matthew Martinez, Gastón Saboulard, and Luis Rodriguez Nieves.
