HAMREI’s approach to design is finding the balance in production between man and machine.

Based in downtown Lisbon, HAMREI’s studio creates few selected international interior design projects and continues to grow it’s public furniture collection with some select items being available through The Invisible Collection. The strong and inspired lines draw from sculpture and architecture, creating a contemporary and comfortable design that is conscious of our planet and lasts.

YARA takes it’s name from Brazilian folclore. A water nymph of the Amazon River, known for her beauty and
song that would seduce men before she would pull them beneath the waters. Her story acts as a message
warning of the dangers of what might lie below the surface; below the apparent beauty.

The form has been sculpted in wax by Hamrei before being cast in bronze using the ancient lost wax process. The coloured patina is then applied by a master artisan before assembly. Finally each piece is numbered and signed by Hamrei using his adopted tally method

Design + Art = Something Else

That marriage between these two worlds is the shift we’ve been seeing. A dialogue with greater perspective and understanding and depth. No longer stand alone or sitting on a pedestal. The merging is where the potential for something greater lies! This is what we’re going towards; taking the foundation of the old worlds to explore and be at the forefront of defining a new model that will change the game.

It’s all in the hips!

The new HIPS table lamp - shown here in cast fine bronze with a custom washi paper shade made in Japan. The base is produced using the lost wax process, hand detailed and finished with a range of coloured patinas.
