Earth floor prototyping

_Over the last weeks we have been working and researching on a rammed earth floor mockup with cork insulation and floor heating system. Definitely loving this technique and looking forward to applying it on a larger surface!!!!

Over the last months, Matierra has been testing, producing and assisting the installation of these gorgeous compress earth blocks in Milano.
These beauties have been assembled to create the French pavilion designed by and .studio for the 23rd Triennale di Milano. The result is absolutely stunning. Congratulations to everybody who took part in the project!!!

Part of this natural raw earth plaster is more water resistant than the rest around it.. What's the magic trick??? 🎩

>>In fact, there are many different ways to improve the water resistance of a natural plaster by using ecological ingredients. In this case, I applied a wheat paste (gluten rich wheat flour+water) on the final top coat. That's it! ;)
