In the heart of Bairro Alto, the intervention focuses on a building that combines the constructive characteristics of the 19th century with the aesthetic themes of the early 20th century, with subtle references to Art Nouveau.
The project adapts the four existing floors to a contemporary residential programme, enhancing the qualities of the existing structure and the identity of its urban context. The design seeks to reinforce the building’s historical continuity while creating an atmosphere deeply connected to Lisbon’s culture and way of life, through a restrained and precise approach.

Novo projeto em Lisboa - em curso

A intervenção parte de um edifício no coração do Bairro Alto, a onde se sobrepõem diferentes tempos: as características construtivas do século XIX e a expressão decorativa do início do século XX, pontuada por discretas referências à Arte Nova.
A proposta procura revelar e reinterpretar esta herança, transformando os quatro pisos existentes num conjunto habitacional contemporâneo.
A adaptação do edifício trabalha a identidade do lugar e a memória inscrita na sua matéria.
A nova arquitetura introduz-se com discrição e rigor, dando continuidade à história do edifício e acolhendo formas de habitar atuais, procurando uma atmosfera profundamente lisboeta, enraizada no caráter singular de um dos bairros históricos mais emblemáticos da cidade.

Novo Projeto | Casa em Cascais

A intervenção e ampliação desta moradia dos anos 60 nasce da necessidade de acomodar uma jovem família de seis pessoas e os seus convidados.

O projeto desenvolve-se a partir da pré-existência, criando novos espaços e uma relação mais intensa entre interior e exterior do lote. A cobertura dos pinheiros mansos, a luz atlântica e a atmosfera do Bairro do Rosário tornam-se elementos centrais da proposta, moldando uma arquitetura que procura integrar-se de forma serena, no seu lugar.

The renovation and extension of this 1960s house responds to the need to accommodate a young family of six and their guests.

The project evolves from the existing structure, creating new living spaces and fostering a stronger connection between indoors and outdoors. The canopy of stone pines, the Atlantic light, and the serene atmosphere of Bairro do Rosário become central elements of the design, shaping an architecture that seeks to integrate gracefully and quietly into its surroundings.

A proposta trabalha a gestão da luz natural como tema de projeto. O desenho dos vãos interiores, a modelação das superfícies, a sequência dos espaços e a forma dos momentos de transição articulam-se para potenciar a entrada, difusão e modulação da luz ao longo do dia, transformando-a num elemento estruturador da experiência doméstica num lote de frente única.

The project explores natural light as an architectural material on a single aspect plot. The design of internal openings, the modelling of surfaces, and the sequence of spaces are orchestrated to capture, diffuse, and modulate light throughout the day, making it a defining element of the domestic experience.

A Casa / Atelier, na Rua da Aliança, foi finalista nos Prémio Nacional de Reabilitação Urbana 2026, na categoria de melhor intervenção inferior a 1000m2.

O projeto nasce da transformação de um edifício do século XIX, marcado por uma ampliação inacabada destinada a apartamentos turísticos. Durante anos, a estrutura permaneceu num estado suspenso entre ruína e obra nova, tornando-se um exemplo das intervenções apressadas que têm marcado muitos centros históricos e que hoje exigem uma nova reflexão arquitetónica.

A intervenção apoia-se numa lógica de reutilização e adaptação. Demolições cirúrgicas eliminam os excessos da ampliação anterior, preservando as paredes de pedra e parte significativa da estrutura de betão existente. O projeto procura reconciliar antigo e novo, inacabado e habitado, através de uma linguagem sóbria e coerente, capaz de reintegrar o edifício no contexto urbano sem abdicar da sua singularidade.

Casa / Atelier, on Rua da Aliança, was a finalist in the 2026 National Urban Rehabilitation Awards in the category of Best Intervention Under 1,000 m².

The project emerged from the transformation of a 19th-century building marked by an unfinished extension originally intended for tourist apartments. For years, the structure remained suspended between ruin and new construction, becoming an example of the rushed interventions that have shaped many historic city centers and that today call for a renewed architectural reflection.

The intervention is grounded in a strategy of reuse and adaptation. Surgical demolitions removed the excesses of the previous expansion while preserving the stone walls and a significant portion of the existing concrete structure. The project seeks to reconcile old and new, unfinished and inhabited, through a restrained and coherent architectural language capable of reintegrating the building into its urban context without sacrificing its singular character.
