The second Valea Doftanei holiday house follows the same spatial hierarchy, structured through a clear separation between day and night areas. The house is composed of two distinct volumes: one dedicated to the shared living spaces, the other to the private rooms.

In the second volume, the bedrooms are organised on the ground floor and attic level, using the upper floor for increased privacy and for the views opened by the height of the roof.

The timber structure of the Valea Doftanei holiday houses remains visible throughout the interiors, including the roof framework, where the constructive logic becomes part of the spatial atmosphere. Rather than being concealed, the structural system defines the scale of the rooms and gives clarity to the pitched volumes.

The material palette is reduced to solid wood, natural stone and large glazed surfaces. This combination establishes a contemporary interior language directly connected to the natural context, with the landscape present as a constant reference through the open elevations.

On 11–14 June, Quadratum participated at Forumul Construcțiilor 2026, organized by eDevize at Romexpo, Bucharest.

The two holiday houses in Valea Doftanei are placed on an isolated site, without immediate built surroundings. Their architecture is deliberately restrained: compact pitched-roof volumes, natural-toned façades and generous glazed openings establish a direct relation with the forested landscape and support the idea of a temporary retreat.

The quiet character of the place is reinforced by the specific conditions of the lake, where only electric motor boats are permitted, preserving the calm atmosphere of the setting.

The first of the two Valea Doftanei holiday houses is organised around a simple division between living and private spaces.

The day space is conceived as a generous area, fully open to the landscape, with one side entirely glazed towards the lake and the wooded slope descending to the water. The night space contains the bedrooms, arranged on the ground floor and first floor, while the attic is reserved for a relaxation area and library, conceived as a quieter and more secluded part of the house.

On June 11, Quadratum Architecture will take part in Night of Architecture Studios, organized as part of Bucharest Design Festival.

For one evening, the studio will open its doors to the public, offering visitors a direct insight into the working environment of an architecture office engaged in complex projects.

The program will include presentations of selected portfolio projects, together with an overview of Quadratum’s digital direction: internal workflows, 3D scanning-based surveys, and direct interaction with the robots and equipment used in professional practice.
