A major healthcare project taking shape in Bucharest
The new Prof. Dr. Dimitrie Gerota Emergency Hospital is taking shape in northern Bucharest — a major investment in Romania’s medical infrastructure.
The future medical campus will include 490 beds, including 50 ICU beds, together with extensive technical and support facilities. The project also includes two main hospital buildings, one of them rising to six floors plus a technical level and a heliport.
At this stage, the complexity of the project is already visible on site, with foundation works and the main structures beginning to define the future campus.
Large healthcare projects are not only about the buildings that eventually become visible above ground. They start much earlier, with the engineering, planning and construction works that create the conditions for everything that follows.
Gerota Hospital is another significant project contributing to the development of Romania’s healthcare infrastructure.

When Birsan Iulian joined Terratest Geotehnic in 2019 as a Site Manager, he quickly proved that technical expertise is only part of what makes a great leader. His professionalism, calm approach under pressure, ability to bring teams together, and commitment to delivering quality have made him a trusted colleague and an important part of our company.
Today, as Production Director, Iulian continues to lead by example. His journey reflects the values we believe in: knowledge, attitude, integrity, and the determination to continuously improve.

Set against the scenic landscape of Valea Doftanei, a future hotel is taking shape on challenging terrain, where ground stability is essential for long-term performance.
Terratest Geotehnic is proud to contribute to this project alongside our trusted partner Oxygen Hotels, delivering the ground anchors and slope stabilization works that provide the secure conditions needed for safe and reliable construction. We appreciate the trust placed in our team and the excellent collaboration that continues to drive this project forward.
Building on sloping terrain requires far more than specialized equipment. It demands sound engineering, precise ex*****on, and continuous adaptation to the site's geological conditions. Throughout the project, our teams worked closely to ensure the excavation remained stable at every stage of construction.
Projects like this highlight an often-unseen aspect of engineering excellence. While retaining systems and ground anchors disappear once construction is complete, they continue safeguarding the structure for decades to come.

We're delighted to congratulate Amolioaiei Iulian on his appointment as Operational Manager at Terratest Romania.

Iulian's journey within our company reflects the value of growing from within. Starting as a Site Manager, he gained hands-on experience in the field before moving into our Commercial Team, where he strengthened client relationships and contributed to business development. 2024 Throwback- a site where solid foundations made ambitious plans possible.

One of the main geotechnical challanges designing new constructions with deep excavation in urban areas is limiting the lateral and vertical displacement of adjacent structures.
Romania successfully implemented a design & build project for a new residential and office building in Bucharest, with due consideration to the surrounding buildings.

216 piles Ø1200 mm with a total drilled length of 3,803 m

100 piles Ø1500 mm with a total drilled length of 1,900 m
