Hibiki Mukai: "this is my short summary of the festival: I am very honoured to be a part of such a great festival, Elektro Arts in Cluj-Napoca. All participators such as musicians, artists, and dancers showed precision and spontaneous imagination through their great works that involve both at high intensity - that was really impressive."

Here's a short summary of Daniel Mayer's impressions: "It's an honour being part of this inspiring interdisciplinary festival. It reflects the technology-driven expressive potential of our time, which of course - and happily - doesn't exclude direct human action and interaction."

Aida-Carmen Soanea, an eclectic and charismatic violist, born in Iaşi, Romania, into a family of opera singers, won 1st prize at the Valentino Bucchi Competition in Rome (2005) and 2nd prize at the Bashmet Viola Competition in Moscow (2000).
She has received musical inputs from Yuri Bashmet during masterclasses at the Accademia Chigiana di Siena, from Ivan Fischer who invited her on the position of solo viola of the Budapest Festival Orchestra (2004 to 2008) and from Claudio Abbado, whom she encountered regularly as a member of the Gustav Mahler Youth Orchestra and later at the Lucerne Festival Orchestra.

As a soloist, Aida-Carmen has performed at the Romanian Athenaeum as well as in music festivals such as the Internationale Osterfestspiele Luzern and Rheingau Musikfestival.

An avid chamber musician, Aida-Carmen has often performed with Natalia Gutman, Kolja Blacher, Alfredo Perl, Alexander Melnikov, Jean-Guihen Queyras and Adrian Brendel, and has collaborated regularly with pianists Jose Gallardo and Andrej Jussow.

From 2007 to 2015 Aida-Carmen Soanea was a founding member of the delian::quartett. Together they appeared at Schleswig-Holstein Musikfestival, at Ludwigsburger Festspiele, at concert venues such as the Vienna Musikverein and the Berlin Philharmonie.

Aida-Carmen Soanea’s relationship with contemporary music is essential; she has been invited to perform with the Ensemble Modern in Frankfurt. Many works by living composers are dedicated to her.

Currently, she is preparing her doctoral thesis at the “Gheorghe Dima” Music Academy in Cluj-Napoca, with research on the dodecaphonic composer Herbert von Hannenheim, whose entire oeuvre she and Igor Kamenz recorded for Challenge Classics.

Dear friends, this year's Festival features another name of both national and international reputation.

Born in Braşov, Romania, Zoltán Réman graduated from the “Gheorghe Dima” Academy of Music, where he studied clarinet under the guidance of Professor Ioan Goilă.

After graduating in 1989, he worked at the Magyar State Opera in Cluj-Napoca until 2017 as a clarinetist. Between 2000 and 2009 he worked as the first clarinetist with the Oradea State Philharmonic Orchestra, and since 2009 he has been the first clarinetist of the Transylvania State Philharmonic in Cluj-Napoca. Between 2007-2010 he held the solo clarinet position with the “Philharmonie der Nationen”, based in Hamburg.

He was a founding member and first clarinetist of the “Europe Symphony”, led by W. Gröhs.

As a founding member of the “Anonymus” Contemporary Music Ensemble, conducted by Péter Szeghő, he has participated in numerous musical premieres of works by living composers.

He is periodically invited to chamber music festivals such as “Tiberius” in Târgu-Mureş or “DeCameron” in Cluj-Napoca.

As a saxophonist, Zoltán Réman has performed in numerous instrumental recitals and has had solo appearances in Romania and abroad, from the end of the `90s, accompanied by various orchestras, conducted by Ilarion Ionescu-Galaţi, Mihail Agafiţa, Zs. Jankó, Sz. Kulcsár, Romeo Râmbu, and György Selmeczi.

In 2011 he founded, together with Sándor Deák, István Makkai, and Antal Kelemen, the “Transylvanian Saxophone Quartet”, a unique ensemble in the chamber music landscape in Romania, with which he achieved notable success. The Quartet has performed in numerous concerts both in Romania and abroad, as well as in festivals, the most important being the “George Enescu” Festival, in 2015.

As a unique and layered experience, through the superposition of vibrant electroacoustic music and dynamic visual images, the performance of "Flows" is an eruption of ideas, which interrogate the audience. It is also a mixture of unforeseen sounds.
