CorPower Ocean has appointed Sebastian Ljungwaldh as Head of Finance, strengthening the company’s leadership team as it enters a new phase of growth and commercial scale-up.

Sebastian brings 15 years of international experience across energy, climate, finance and strategy, with a career spanning energy markets, project development and advanced manufacturing. He joins CorPower Ocean from evroc, where he led corporate finance and business control.

Previously, he spent six and a half years at Northvolt, working across equity, project financing and strategic partnerships in corporate finance before serving as Senior Director, Strategy & Performance.

He has also worked on energy investment and power markets at the International Energy Agency (IEA) and Carbon Tracker.

At CorPower Ocean, Sebastian will lead the company’s finance function, supporting the business as it progresses from technology development and demonstration towards commercial deployment and growth.

🎊 🌊 CorPower Ocean has received the 2026 Planetary Health Award for Innovation from Fondation Prince Albert II de Monaco.

🇲🇨 💫 HSH Prince Albert II of Monaco presented the award to Patrik Möller, CEO and co-founder of CorPower Ocean, at the Foundation’s Planetary Health Awards ceremony at the Salle des Étoiles, in Monte-Carlo. This year’s ceremony also marked the Foundation’s 20th anniversary and brought together nearly 400 scientists, innovators, partners and environmental leaders.

🌍⚡️ The Foundation recognised CorPower Ocean for its pioneering efforts to unlock the potential of wave energy by tackling storm resilience and establishing wave power as a competitive, reliable source of clean electricity. The other 2026 laureates are Kenyan coral reef scientist Dr David Obura and Chadian Indigenous rights and climate advocate Hindou Oumarou Ibrahim.

🤝 We're delighted to welcome Jan Verdaasdonk to CorPower Ocean as our new Head of Assembly and Testing! Jan brings more than two decades of experience in naval architecture and marine engineering, with a career built on taking complex engineering concepts from design all the way through to delivery.

🌊 A Chartered Engineer and Member of the Royal Institution of Naval Architects as well as a PMP certified project manager, he has worked across the maritime and offshore sectors in Europe, the USA, Australia and Asia.

⚓️ Along the way, Jan has contributed to major marine and defence programmes, including the Australian Air Warfare Destroyer, and has held roles spanning engineering, project management and business development. His technical research has explored autonomous underwater vehicles, lite-cycle assessment and marine engineering. Most recently, he has been based in Singapore with Nebula-Marine.

⚙️ At CorPower Ocean, Jan will lead the development and ex*****on of assembly and testing for our wave energy converters, building robust, repeatable processes that support efficient manufacturing, rigorous testing and our transition towards serial production and commercial wave tarms.

We had the privilege of recently welcoming a delegation from Japan Bank for International Cooperation (JBIC) to CorPower Ocean's headquarters in Stockholm.

Led by Governor Mr. Kazuhiko Amakawa, the delegation included Mr. Makoto Uchida, Executive Managing Director, Mr. Noriaki Murai, and Ms. Kyoka Mizuno.

The CEO of Business Sweden, Mr. Jan Larsson, and Ms. Siri Sachs from SEB and Wallenberg Investments were also present to take part in the discussions on energy innovation and of the role which wave energy can play in delivering reliable, clean energy around the clock and around the world.

Our CEO Patrik Möller and Chief Commercial Officer Catharina Belfrage Sahlstrand started off by giving an overview of CorPower Ocean's latest technology developments and commercial roadmap, followed by a visit to our dry testing facility and to our control center, with real time monitoring of our wave energy operations in Aguçadoura, Portugal.

The visit comes at an exciting time for CorPower Ocean, following our achievement as the first wave energy technology in the world to receive DNV certification, an important milestone in making wave energy a bankable and investable renewable energy solution.

Portugal’s Deputy Minister of Energy Jean Barroca visited CorPower Ocean in Viana do Castelo to see first-hand the world leading wave energy technology.

The commercial scale C4 Wave Energy Converter, has since 2023 successfully demonstrated grid-connected electricity generation and proven its resilience by surviving Atlantic storm conditions with waves exceeding 18 meters.

The visit featured a comprehensive tour of our facilities, including the factory cell where our composite hulls are manufactured, the assembly and test hall, and our wave farm Control Centre.

The next major milestone is the expansion to a 15 MW wave energy farm. Featuring a CorPack array of 45 Wave Energy Converters, the project is expected to generate approximately 45 GWh of renewable electricity annually off Portugal’s northern coast. With around 75% of the project’s lifetime value provided by Portuguese industry VianaWave will establish a new industry spanning manufacturing, engineering, installation and operations.

Wave energy offers predictable and consistent power that enables industry and data centers to run on clean firm power around the clock, at competitive cost levels. This is a critical competitive advantage for Iberia, while a diverse 24/7 clean power mix also provides energy security and resilience.

Powering the AI era: How wave energy enables affordable 24/7 clean power for data centers.

Today, Cisco highlights breakthrough findings from CorPower Ocean’s study, showing how wave energy can reduce the cost of clean electricity for data centers by more than 25%. Wave Energy is now a proven technology, ready to be deployed at scale.

The white paper by CorPower Ocean, a Cisco Investments portfolio company, explores how wave energy can power the AI era and, crucially, how it can help enable 24/7 clean power for data centers. A flat data center load in San Jose, California, was modeled with clean power supply meeting hourly demand at least 95% of the year.

⚡ Lower cost of delivered electricity: levelized cost of firm clean electricity falls from $114.5/MWh to $84.6/MWh - a 26% reduction.

🔋 Far less storage needed: energy storage capacity falls from 158.3 GWh to 14.6 GWh - a reduction of more than 90%.

📉 A smaller overall system: installed generation capacity falls from 628 MW without wave to 386 MW with wave - about 39% less capacity. This benefits data centers as well as the grid and the energy system as a whole.

These benefits scale up further at the GW level. CorPower Ocean's modular native approach offers a highly scalable solution for rapid roll-out of wave energy farms, with a competitive cost curve. Wave energy offers data centers a significant resource of consistent and predictable power to help deliver affordable clean energy around the clock.
