🌼🌿🌞 Edible "w**d": Biden Pilosa, Spanish Needle

An edible beautiful white flower with a yellow speckled center. Great for pollinators and very easy to grow. This edible plant can easily be found growing wild along our streets in Singapore. And here's a field of them blooming in the middle of two abandoned shacks in Taipei. πŸ₯°

Been cooking quite a lot lately and here's a tangy rice salad thingy that I've been making πŸ˜„

Cooked some brown rice and added the snow peas right when the rice is done to steam it with the residual heat.

Harvested some mint and basil from the garden, chopped them up and stirred it into the rice along with some olive oil, salt, pepper and Zaatar.

Halved some heirloom tomatoes, grapes, added those in along with some feta cheese crumbled on top.

Garnished with a slice of lemon and volia!

Got the chance to harvest some kiwi fruits πŸ₯πŸ₯πŸ₯ off the vines in New Zea and chomped on one right away~

That's right, the skin of the kiwi fruit is completely edible!

Was apprehensive at first since I've always scooped out the flesh but I saw a local doing it and followed suit. It's legit, the skin doesn't actually taste furry on the tongue. Try it yourself! πŸ˜›

Avocado on Sourdough

🍞Food waste tip: No more moudly bread! 🍞

It's more cost effective to buy an entire loaf of sourdough, but I usually can't finish an entire loaf before it goes stale/mouldy.

To solve that, now I slice the entire loaf when I get back, keep a few pieces out and just store the rest in the freezer.

They keep really well when they're frozen and just need to be reheated when you want to have it.

Delicious!

Ended Earth week with a Native Edibles workshop .passionwave at Jurong Lake Gardens yesterday!

The workshop sold out a few weeks ago and it felt so nice to be teaching in-person face to face with a full class again πŸ’š

It was storming like crazy outside, and unfortunately some of the participants ended up coming in late but thankfully everyone got to take something home to grow πŸ˜„

For those of you who didn't manage to get a slot, I'm planning to run more sessions so look out for that.

If you would like to have a Native Edibles party for your own school, organisation or get-together, drop me a message and we can plan something together πŸ’š

[Garden ASMRπŸ‘©β€πŸŒΎ] Harvesting bananas

This is the first time that I harvested a whole comb of bananas and boy was it satisfying. I didn't have a machete so I used the next best tool that I could find in the storeroom, a saw.

It did take quite a bit of effort but I enjoyed listening to the ksh ksh ksh sound of the blade against the watery trunk.

If you didn't know yet, each banana tree only produces one comb of fruits! So once you have harvested the fruits, it's good to chop it down to allow the other baby banana plants to grow.

Enjoy the reel! Idk bout you but I love watching these videos with the sounds of nature and all heh.

P.S Top is from , overalls are secondhand!

Had a ton of apples in the fridge that were a liiiittle old so I made some apple compote!

Chopped them up, added a splash of water, touch of cinnamon, a few cardamom pods, stew over a low flame till everything softens and melts into gooey goodness. Volia!✨

Apple cores are going into the compost of course :p

P.S Please use a low flame and add some water. I burnt the bottom of my pot and learnt my lesson lol. Spent 1 hour scrubbing it clean after that. But I still got good compote :p

Yesterday's Garden to Table features a moringa omelette and a spicy stir fry with long beans, cabbage and purple chilli.

Long beans, purple chilli and moringa were freshly harvested from the gardens that I've been working and caring for πŸ˜‹
