The stunning beauty of the Waterlily and Lotus flowers (all of them are the descendants of your plants) are blooming happily and proudly under the strong and bright sunshine.”

Surrounded by lotus experts, hybridisers, academics, researchers and practitioners from across China.
It was both exciting and humbling to exchange ideas with so many passionate people who have devoted their lives to the study and cultivation of lotus.

I had the honour of speaking at the 40th Chinese Lotus Exhibition and Conference at Weishan Lake, Shandong. 🌸

Surrounded by lotus experts, hybridisers, academics, researchers and practitioners from across China, I shared the unique challenges and opportunities of growing lotus in tropical Singapore.

My key message was simple:
温带荷花跟随季节，热带荷花跟随周期。
(Temperate lotus follow the seasons; tropical lotus follow their growth cycles.)

It was both exciting and humbling to exchange ideas with so many passionate people who have devoted their lives to the study and cultivation of lotus.
