All lifts in Singapore are fitted with an Safety Catch that is mechanically activated in the event the speed of the lift exceeds 30% of the normal speed.

Condolences to the poor worker. Hope that there is no such incidents after the new Code is implemented.

The 29-year-old Bangladeshi construction worker, who was not trained in handling lifts, bled to death after miscommunication led to the lift moving up and trapping his arm.
