We had the opportunity to share about “borderless studio” and small home office ideas at the SIA SMAP Open Studio.

It is a topic that we feel is increasingly relevant—how we rethink workspace boundaries, especially for small practices and hybrid setups.

The sharing and exchange was less about solutions and more about possibilities—how design, workflow, and technology can come together to support a more flexible way of working.

We are grateful that our principal architect is able to serve in the Fire Safety Standing Committee and the Audit Inquiry Committee. It has been a unique experience.

It is not often that you get to serve and learn at the same time in such a direct way. Each case, each discussion, and even each challenge brings a deeper understanding of how fire safety plays out in real situations—not just on paper, but in practice.

What stands out to is how important this process is. It is not just about compliance or enforcement. It is about constantly improving the system, learning from past incidents, and making better decisions for the future of our built environment.

Being part of these committees reminds us that as professionals, we do not just design or regulate—we also have a responsibility to keep learning, questioning, and contributing back to the industry.

Grateful for the opportunity to play a small part in this.

On this National Day, we at Absolute X are grateful to be part of Singapore’s journey—a nation that continues to grow, innovate, and set high standards for the built environment.

As architects, we have a small but meaningful role to play in shaping the built environment. Whether through design, sustainability, safety, technological adoption or regulatory guideline, we will continue to do our best in shaping spaces, contribute to the industry, the practice and the environment and continue to serve the nation and our people with purpose.

We walked into the nuclear energy seminar curious, and left it with a lot more to think about.

The session focused on Small Modular Reactors (SMRs) and how they could fit into Singapore’s push for green, sustainable energy—especially in relation to the built environment.

But what struck me was not just the technology, but the layers of consideration and system thinking behind it: land use, circular integration with high-energy assets like data centres, governance, and public safety and readiness.

It is definitely a reminder that sustainability is not just about the materials we specify or the forms we design—it is also about understanding the larger systems that power our buildings and cities and the inter-dependency of the various elements and stakeholders in play,

Representing the Architecture Alumni Association (AAA) at the NUS Graduation Show this year was especially meaningful.

Seeing the students’ work—ideas, experimentation, and boldness—reminds me how architecture education continues to evolve with each generation. It is also a important reminder on how we should refine the way we practise - grounded yet exploratory.

It was also a chance to connect, encourage, and hopefully play a small part in bridging school and practice.

Wishing all graduates a strong start to the journey ahead.

Attended Archifest 2026 for the past 3 days. It was a timely reminder of how diverse and evolving our profession has become.

Beyond the exhibitions and talks, what I value most are the conversations—catching up with peers, exchanging ideas, and seeing how others are pushing boundaries in design, technology, and practice.

It is easy to get caught up in day-to-day work, but moments like this help reset perspective and reconnect with the larger architectural community.
