Service requirement
As per Singapore legal requirement (PUB, Singapore), all management corporations and building owners shall clean, disinfect sterilize and obtain certification for their potable water tank on yearly basis. The water tank referred is potable water tank used to store the water supplied by PUB for drinking purposes. Purpose of water tank maintenance

To comply with legal requirements set by PUB, Singapore for water storage tanks
To ensure the water is fit and safe for the storage of water for human consumption
To ensure the water is free from any contamination / pollution / bacterial growth /moss / leakage

with the legal requirement as stipulated by PUB, Singapore

Skilled personnel requirement
Licensed plumber
To visit potable water tank installed location for verifying the tank constructed as per PUB standards
To notify PUB about commencement and completion of the water tank cleaning
To supervise the water tank cleaning and sterilization works
To notify PUB upon successful completion of the tank cleaning
Waves Fluid Engineering Pte Ltd have competent PUB approved licensed plumbers who shall visit the water storage tank and ensure the water tank is in-line with all latest PUB Singapore requirement
Confined Space Safety Assessor
To perform gas test for the tank to ensure
the water tank is safe for entry by entrants (cleaning workers)
To discharge all duties as detailed in WSH (Confined Space) regulations 2009
Waves Fluid Engineering Pte Ltd have MOM approved certified and competent confined
space safety assessor to perform the gas checks and other duties as required
Confined space supervisor
To supervise the water tank cleaning and sterilization workers while performing the tank cleaning
To discharge all duties as detailed in WSH (Confined Space) regulations 2009
All supervisors in Waves Fluid Engineering Pte Ltd are MOM
certified and competent confined space supervisors
Confined space attendant
To standby at the confined space entrance to monitor
the tank cleaning worker entering the tank for cleaning / sterilization. All workers involved for water tank cleaning are medically certified by designated workplace safety and health doctors for safe to enter tank and free from any water-borne disease and competent in confined space entry course
Confined space entrant
To enter the water tank for cleaning, sterilization and repair works as required
All workers involved for water tank cleaning are medically certified by designated workplace safety and health doctors for safe to enter tank and free from any water-borne disease and competent in confined space entry course
Rescue team
To proceed with the rescue of entrants (cleaning works) as and when required
Waves Fluid Engineering Pte Ltd has competent, experienced and trained rescue team

Note: Safety Data Sheet of the chlorine to be used for water tank cleaning and sterilization shall be submitted to the client before the start of the work
Equipment required
4-in-1 gas detector for the confined space safety assessor
Personal gas detector to the entrant (water tank cleaning worker)
Rescue tripod for the use by rescue team to use, in case of emergency
Safety harness for the workers entering the water tank for cleaning
Waterproof coverall for all workers entering the water tank for cleaning
Rubber Boots for all workers entering the water tank for cleaning
External parties involved
Singapore Accreditation Council-SINGLAS approved water
testing laboratory to test the water sample collected from the cleaned and sterilized water tank
Procedure for tank cleaning
Upon receiving the confirmation order from client,
Waves Fluid Engineering Pte Ltd shall send our Licensed Plumber for onsite
checking of the tank to ensure compliance with latest PUB requirement
Note: Waves Fluid Engineering Pte Ltd shall not proceed with the tank cleaning and sterilization works if the licensed plumber detects / identified any non-compliance in the water tank to be cleaned
Isolation of the tank (LOTO to inlet pipe and outlet pipe)
Starts cleaning outside the tank and manhole covers then enter the water tank. Water tank / compartment cleaning sequence scrubbing / water jet cleaning the sides
of the tank below the overflow pipe level, chlorine disinfection to the water
tank level above the overflow pipe and the roof of the water tank
Repeat the above steps until the tank is thoroughly cleared
Procedure for tank sterilization
Open the incoming pipe
Fill the water tank up to overflow level
Add chlorine solution as per the PUB guidelines
Keep the tank water filled with this sterilization mix for next 24 hours
Next day discharge the sterilization water mix and open the inlet valve
Collect water sample from the water tank and send to Singapore Accreditation Council-SINGLAS laboratory for water sample analysis
Once the water sample test result is obtained and deemed safe as per PUB guidelines,
repeat the same procedure for the next compartment of the water tank
