🌿 𝑪𝒐𝒍𝒍𝒂𝒃𝒐𝒓𝒂𝒕𝒊𝒐𝒏 𝑺𝒑𝒐𝒕𝒍𝒊𝒈𝒉𝒕: 𝑺𝒆𝒎𝒖𝒍𝒂 𝒙 𝑮𝑼𝑰 🌿

We’re excited to share our collaboration with Semula! Together, we crafted these beautiful stools made from wood and plastic waste, in a project commissioned by the Tzu Chi Humanistic Youth Centre. ♻️✨

The upcycled wood used in these stools came straight from the hands of our incredible community and volunteers, who transformed pallet waste into usable materials. A huge thank you to everyone who contributed to turning waste into something beautiful and functional. 💚

Mark the date! Join us on the 29th of July for a round of Kampung Activities! A Carnival styled open house, where we are hosting a wide variety of family friendly fringe activities like jewellery making, furniture painting, arts and crafts, and caricature! This is in conjunction with Ground-Up Initiative's Concert night, a fundraising event for our move! Come have a good time and support the cause! ❤️💖🤘

Along with our GUI community & 96.3好FM, we also want to thank Ray of Hope for their platform for our fundraising concert. Funds raised will support . Free Saw dust up for grabs!!

Brief introduction:
Greetings from the Touchwood Workshop, we are wood workers from Ground-Up Initiative! A non-profit that champions sustainability and has been practicing and educating it's importance in our kampung for more than a decade.

As such, we take in mostly reclaimed wood from discarded pallets, manufacturing rejects, and old furniture to run workshops and make custom orders.

Reclaiming wood requires us to "plane" the material which creates lots of sawdust or "wood shavings" as a byproduct, which we are unable to compost quickly. The pallet wood we use is heat treated only! We do not handle chemically treated pallet wood. ☺️

Contact us if you would like to further our waste reduction efforts to reuse our wood shavings for your pet applications!! 🐱🐰🐹🐭

We also offer lots of fine saw dust, that is ready to bulk up your compost bin 😋🪱

👨‍🎓BASIC WOODWORKING FOR ADULTS GRADUATION DAY!👩‍🎓

We really enjoyed ourselves with this batch of students and we wish them all the very best in their future adventures! At it’s not just about woodworking or farming, but also about community and about caring for each other and for the Earth. Our classes are also a way for us to share these values and to welcome more people into our community 🌱

More classes to come after 13 June! For now, take care and stay safe everyone 💕

Some photos from DAY 1️⃣ of 3️⃣ of our Basic Woodworking for Adults Class where participants learn the fundamentals of measuring, marking, sawing, and how to choose the right wood for their project. At our workshop we emphasize theory 📖 as much as practice 🛠
