Small chest with carved Islamic geometry pattern.

Chest is not replica or based on any historical piece, it is however made using traditional and historical techniques and joints.

The design on the front, back and sides is found in Al-Hakim mosque in Isfahan, Iran.
The top/lid design is just a simple 4-fold pattern I liked.

Writing box or desk box inspired by late 16th - 17th century english pieces.

I made this box to store all my things I need for calligraphy and writing.

Box is made from Larch wood and finished with a mix of beeswax, linen oil and turpentine.
Glue was used only to get wider bottom panel, lid and to secure divider for two drawers on the inside, everything else is held together by nails.

The box has a lot of empty space, so i decided to try carving some gothic designs, even though Larch wood is not really a good carving wood.
The back have really simple arches and a shield (it was the worst piece to work with and it's always next to a wall).
The sides have 4 arches with 2 smaller arches inside.
The front has a 8 quatrefoil circles.

Lid dimensions - 42 x 24 cm (for sideway A4)
Lid angle - 30°

Scabbard for a viking sword.

Core made from spruce wood, with tanned leather, carved oak strap-slide and black leather lacing in groves for a little extra decoration.

The scabbard is not based on any original, that I know of.

Replica box/coffret, German, second half of 13th century or 1500-1700.

Made from beech wood and finished with linen oil.

Dimensions are slightly different. The original is measured in inches and I work with centimeters so I round up/down a little.

With carvings I had to improvise a little, because the dimensions are slightly different, the sizes/angles/proportions are also slightly different.
With the design I took a little freedom as I couldn't see all the details from 2 photos (especially with the shields part).

The type of hinges I used, because I had them, and this type was used in that time period, but are probably not used in original.
The angle clamps are missing, as I do not have experience or proper tools for working with brass (but I will make them when a have a chance).

Small carved box, made after original from late middle ages (possibly 19th century, see the link for more details).

This one I made for myself to try something new. The dimensions are much smaller and the ratio between hight and width are different, as it was made from leftover oak I had available.

The box is not glued and is held together only by nails as an experiment to see how it moves and behaves over time.
