A 70-year-old Ugandan woman has given birth to twins through Cesarean after becoming pregnant through In vitro fertilization (IVF treatment), becoming the oldest woman in Africa to give birth, according to the hospital where she had the babies.

The Women's Hospital International and Fertility Centre in the Ugandan capital, Kampala, said Safina Namukwaya delivered a boy and a girl. Ms Namukwaya told a privately owned NTV channel that it was her second delivery in three years after she gave birth to a girl in 2020.

President Kiir travels to Dubai for COP28 UN Climate Change Conference

President Kiir has departed for Dubai to participate in the COP28 United Nations Climate Change Conference. The annual conference focuses on assessing global progress on the Paris Agreement and addressing climate-related challenges.

Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs Ramadan Mohamed Abdalla Goc stated that President Kiir will engage in sideline discussions on regional peace and security, particularly addressing the crisis in Sudan.

Jonglei State launched 16 Days of Activism Against Gender Based Violence campaign in the state’s capital Bor.
In attendance were government and civil society actors, the UN family, media, and accountability actors who gathered in solidarity and to advocate for gender equality and make clarion calls for peaceful coexistence in the state.
The United Nations Mission in South Sudan reassured the audience of the mission’s mandate on protection of civilians in relation to gender-based violence.
