CODE Studio ได้รับเชิญให้ร่วมเป็นคณะกรรมการจัดงานเฉลิมฉลอง 60 ปี ภาควิชาไทยศึกษา มหาวิทยาลัย Hankuk University of Foreign Studies (HUFS) และการประชุมวิชาการ 2026 HUFS Department of Thai Studies Conference ณ กรุงโซล ประเทศเกาหลีใต้
ในโอกาสนี้ ได้นำเสนอนิทรรศการพิเศษ TAEUJEONG — ศาลาแห่งมิตรภาพอันสงบสุข ร่วมกับภาควิชาไทยศึกษา HUFS และ Thai Cultural Corner โดยจัดแสดงผลงานของ อาจารย์ณัฐกฤต สุนทรีรัตน์ (Tatan Sun) Nathakrit Tatan Sunthareerat สถาปนิกผู้เชี่ยวชาญด้านสถาปัตยกรรมไทยประเพณี ซึ่งพัฒนาต่อยอดจากแบบร่างศาลาไทย–เกาหลี ในโครงการของสถานเอกอัครราชทูต ณ กรุงโซล เมื่อปี พ.ศ. 2561 เนื่องในโอกาสครบรอบ 60 ปี ความสัมพันธ์ทางการทูตไทย–เกาหลี
นิทรรศการนำเสนอผลงานภาพลายเส้นทางสถาปัตยกรรมและศิลปกรรม พร้อมถ่ายทอดแนวคิดเบื้องหลังการออกแบบศาลาไทย–เกาหลี ตั้งแต่การผสมผสานรูปแบบสถาปัตยกรรมไทยกับคติความเชื่อและสัญลักษณ์มงคลของเกาหลี ไปจนถึงการตีความองค์ประกอบทางศิลปกรรมที่สะท้อนมิตรภาพและความสัมพันธ์ระหว่างสองวัฒนธรรม

A PAVILION OF FRIENDSHIP. A DIALOGUE OF CULTURES. 🇹🇭🇰🇷

In celebration of 60 Years of Thai Studies in Korea, the Department of Thai Studies, Hankuk University of Foreign Studies (HUFS), in collaboration with Thai Cultural Corner and Cultural-Oriented Design Studio, presents TAEUJEONG (泰友亭), a special exhibition exploring the Thai–Korean pavilion as a symbol of friendship, cultural exchange, and mutual understanding.
Featuring works by Tatan Sun (Nathakrit Sunthareerat), an architect specializing in traditional Thai architecture, the exhibition brings together architectural drawings, artistic interpretations, and cultural narratives that explore the meeting of Thai and Korean traditions, arts, and architectural ideas. The exhibition builds upon an original pavilion design developed in 2018 for a project by the Royal Thai Embassy in Seoul, Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Thailand, commemorating the 60th anniversary of diplomatic relations between Thailand and the Republic of Korea.
TAEUJEONG, meaning “Pavilion of Peaceful Friendship,” celebrates the relationships between people and cultures nurtured through decades of exchange and shared learning. More than an architectural structure, the pavilion imagines a shared space where two cultures meet, inspire one another, and create new possibilities for the future.

เนื่องในโอกาสครบรอบ 60 ปี ภาควิชาไทยศึกษา มหาวิทยาลัย Hankuk University of Foreign Studies (HUFS) ภาควิชาไทยศึกษา ร่วมกับ Thai Cultural Corner และ CODE Studio ขอเชิญชมนิทรรศการพิเศษ 태우정 (泰友亭) — ศาลาแห่งมิตรภาพอันสงบสุข ที่ถ่ายทอดเรื่องราวความสัมพันธ์ระหว่างประเทศไทยและสาธารณรัฐเกาหลี ผ่านการสร้างสรรค์ศาลาไทย–เกาหลี อันเป็นสัญลักษณ์แห่งมิตรภาพ การแลกเปลี่ยนเรียนรู้ และความเข้าใจระหว่างผู้คนของทั้งสองประเทศ

CODE Studio ได้รับความไว้วางใจจาก Royal Thai Embassy, Washington D.C. สถานเอกอัครราชทูต ณ กรุงวอชิงตัน ให้ทำหน้าที่ Festival Director ของ Sawasdee DC Thai Festival 2026 ร่วมพัฒนาแนวคิด ทิศทางการสร้างสรรค์ และออกแบบประสบการณ์ของเทศกาลบนถนน Pennsylvania Avenue ใจกลางกรุงวอชิงตัน ดี.ซี. เมืองหลวงของสหรัฐอเมริกา
ในช่วงเวลาที่สหรัฐอเมริกากำลังเฉลิมฉลองวาระครบรอบ 250 ปีแห่งการประกาศอิสรภาพ และความสัมพันธ์ระหว่างไทยกับสหรัฐอเมริกาดำเนินมายาวนานถึง 193 ปี เราอยากให้งานนี้เป็นมากกว่าเทศกาลที่นำวัฒนธรรมไทยไปจัดแสดงในต่างประเทศ แต่เป็นพื้นที่ที่ผู้คนจากต่างวัฒนธรรมได้มาพบกัน ผ่านการใช้ชีวิตและประสบการณ์ร่วมกัน

เราเริ่มต้นจากคำถามว่า หากประเทศไทยปรากฏขึ้นกลางกรุงวอชิงตัน ดี.ซี. เป็นเวลาหนึ่งวัน เราจะทำให้ผู้คนได้สัมผัสประเทศไทยมากกว่าการเดินชมเทศกาลได้อย่างไร
จึงเกิดเป็นแนวคิด Thai Pop-up Street ที่เปลี่ยนถนน Pennsylvania Avenue ให้กลายเป็นพื้นที่แห่งประสบการณ์ ผ่านอาหาร ดนตรี ศิลปะ งานหัตถกรรม สุขภาวะ การแสดง และวิถีชีวิตร่วมสมัยของไทย

กรอบการ์ตูน ลายเส้น Speech Bubbles และอารมณ์ขัน ถูกนำมาใช้สร้างเรื่องราวที่สนุกและเข้าถึงง่าย ก่อนต่อยอดเป็นโปสเตอร์ ป้าย กราฟิก และองค์ประกอบต่าง ๆ ของเทศกาล

And suddenly, Thailand POPS UP in D.C.

วันที่ 19 กันยายน 2026 สิ่งที่เคยอยู่ในบทสนทนา แบบร่าง และภาพจำลอง ได้กลายเป็นประสบการณ์จริงบนถนน Pennsylvania Avenue เราได้เห็นชุมชนคนไทยมาร่วมกันเป็นเจ้าบ้าน ได้เห็นผู้คนจากหลากหลายวัฒนธรรมเข้ามาสัมผัสประเทศไทย และได้เห็นถนนทั้งสายมีชีวิตขึ้นจากผู้คนที่เข้ามาใช้เวลาร่วมกัน
สำหรับ CODE ความพิเศษของงานนี้จึงไม่ได้อยู่เพียงการนำประเทศไทยมาปรากฏบนถนนสายสำคัญใจกลางเมืองหลวงของสหรัฐอเมริกา แต่อยู่ที่การได้เห็นผู้คนเข้ามาเติมชีวิตให้กับพื้นที่ที่เราออกแบบ และทำให้คำว่า “สวัสดี” กลายเป็นจุดเริ่มต้นของบทสนทนาและมิตรภาพครั้งใหม่ เพราะการออกแบบจะมีชีวิตขึ้นจริง ๆ เมื่อผู้คนเข้ามาเป็นส่วนหนึ่งของมัน

This year, CODE Studio was entrusted by the Royal Thai Embassy in Washington, D.C. to serve as Festival Director of Sawasdee D.C. 2026, shaping the festival concept, creative direction, and overall experience on Pennsylvania Avenue, in the heart of Washington, D.C.
As the United States celebrates the 250th anniversary of its independence, and Thailand and the United States mark 193 years of relations, we wanted this festival to be more than a showcase of Thai culture abroad. We wanted to create a place where people from different cultures could come together through shared experiences.

THAI POP-UP: WHAT’S UP, D.C.?

We began with a simple question: What if Thailand popped up in the middle of Washington, D.C., for just one day? How could we invite people to experience Thailand rather than simply walk through a festival?
This became the idea behind our Thai Pop-up Street, transforming Pennsylvania Avenue into a place filled with Thai food, music, art, crafts, wellness, performances, and contemporary ways of life.
From SAY HI! to TASTE IT! SHOP IT! FEEL IT! SHARE IT! HEAR IT! and LIVE IT! — every part of the festival became an invitation to participate, discover, connect, and create memories together.

LIVE THE THAI VIBES!
———
At the heart of this idea was an invitation for Thai communities to join us as co-hosts of the festival, bringing their food, art, talent, creativity, and everyday way of life to Pennsylvania Avenue.
At the same time, we wanted to welcome Americans and people from around the world to experience Thai vibes by spending time with Thai communities — not simply as spectators, but as part of a shared cultural experience.
For us, Thai vibes are not found only in the things we put on display. They come from people, the way we live, the way we welcome others, and the experiences we share.

For the creative direction, we collaborated with artist Koy Bae to bring the Thai pop-up concept to life through the visual language of American comic books.
Comic panels, illustrations, speech bubbles, and playful humor became part of a visual story that was fun and easy to connect with. This visual language was then carried through the festival posters, signage, graphics, and installations.

Thai culture meets American pop culture.
And suddenly, Thailand POPS UP in D.C.

On September 19, 2026, what had once existed in conversations, sketches, and renderings became a real experience on Pennsylvania Avenue.
We saw Thai communities come together as hosts, people from different cultures discovering Thailand, and an entire street coming to life through the people who shared it.
For CODE, what made this festival special was not simply bringing Thailand to a prominent street in the heart of the U.S. capital. It was seeing people bring the space we designed to life, turning a simple “Sawasdee” into the beginning of new conversations and friendships. Because design truly comes to life when people become part of it.

This September, CODE Studio is bringing a little piece of Thailand to Pennsylvania Avenue.
For Sawasdee DC Thai Festival 2026, we’ve been working with the Royal Thai Embassy, Washington D.C. to imagine the festival not simply as a place to showcase Thai culture, but as a street where people can actually experience it.

HARMONIOUS VIBES,
CREATIVE HEARTBEATS

And how do we tell that story in D.C.?
Through a little pop-culture twist.
For this creative collaboration, CODE Studio teamed up with artist Koy Bae to bring the idea to life through the visual language of American comic books.
Bold frames, speech bubbles, action, humor, and larger-than-life moments transform the festival story into a playful cultural crossover:
Thai culture meets American pop culture.
And suddenly, Thailand POPS UP in D.C.

For one day, Pennsylvania Avenue NW between 3rd and 6th Streets will transform into a vibrant Thai pop-up street — filled with food, music, wellness, culture, community, and the creative energy of contemporary Thailand.
The idea is simple
DON’T JUST SEE THAILAND.
LIVE IT.
So instead of simply naming different “zones,” each part of the street becomes an invitation to do something.

Start with a Sawasdee and discover what’s happening throughout the day.

Explore Thailand through its flavors — from beloved street food to sweets, drinks, and culinary stories.
SHOP IT! — Market Station
Stroll through a Thai-inspired market of products, crafts, creativity, and discoveries.

Slow down and experience Thai approaches to wellness, massage, and wellbeing.
SHARE IT! — Friendship Station
Meet people, exchange stories, and celebrate the communities and friendships connecting Thailand and the United States.
HEAR IT! — Rhythm Station
Follow the sounds and energy of Thailand through music, performance, movement, and Muay Thai.
LIVE IT! — Thailand Station
Come to the heart of the festival, where the Main Stage, Landmark Pavilion, and many expressions of contemporary Thailand come together.

EXPECT THE UNEXPECTED
“สถาปัตย์ปริวรรต 2569” — EXPECT THE UNEXPECTED นิทรรศการเนื่องในวันศิลป์ พีระศรี ประจำปี 2569 ปีนี้ชวนสำรวจบทบาทของการออกแบบท่ามกลางความไม่แน่นอน รวมถึงความเป็นไปได้ใหม่ ๆ ที่เกิดขึ้นเมื่อผู้ออกแบบเปิดพื้นที่ให้กับ “สิ่งที่ไม่คาดคิด”
ปีนี้มีผลงานสร้างสรรค์ทางสถาปัตยกรรมและสาขาที่เกี่ยวข้องจากหลากหลายสถาบันและวิชาชีพเข้าร่วมจัดแสดง โดยผ่านกระบวนการพิจารณาคุณภาพจากผู้ทรงคุณวุฒิ
และในจำนวนผลงานที่ได้รับการคัดเลือก มี 3 โครงการจาก CODE Studio ร่วมจัดแสดงอยู่ด้วย
ทั้งสามโครงการมีขนาด บริบท และโจทย์แตกต่างกัน แต่เมื่อนำมาอยู่ร่วมกัน กลับสะท้อนวิธีคิดบางอย่างที่ CODE ให้ความสำคัญมาโดยตลอด — การออกแบบไม่ได้เริ่มต้นจากการถามว่าเราจะ “สร้างอะไร” แต่เริ่มจากการทำความเข้าใจว่า อะไรมีอยู่ก่อนแล้ว และสิ่งนั้นมีคุณค่าอย่างไร

WANGCHAIYA RENOVATION PROJECT
วังไชยา อาคารอายุกว่า 120 ปีที่ผ่านการเปลี่ยนแปลงจากตำหนักที่ประทับ สู่สถานที่ราชการของกรมการปกครอง และเป็นส่วนหนึ่งของประวัติศาสตร์การจัดทำบัตรประจำตัวประชาชนของไทย
การออกแบบภายใต้แนวคิด Memory-based Renovation จึงไม่ได้พยายามย้อนอาคารกลับไปสู่ช่วงเวลาใดช่วงเวลาหนึ่ง แต่เริ่มจากการอ่านร่องรอยของการเปลี่ยนแปลง ทำความเข้าใจสิ่งที่ยังหลงเหลือ และพิจารณาว่าอะไรควรถูกส่งต่อ เพื่อให้อาคารสามารถดำรงอยู่ในฐานะ Living Heritage ที่ยังคงมีชีวิตและการใช้งานในปัจจุบัน

บ้านไม้ในชุมชนตรอกไก่แจ้ บางลำพู ซึ่งได้รับการส่งต่อภายในตระกูลศิลปีมาถึงทายาทรุ่นปัจจุบัน
การปรับปรุงบ้านไม้โดยเลือกเปิดพื้นที่ให้ความทรงจำกลับมามีชีวิตผ่านการใช้งานใหม่ โดย Bite Me Softly ร้านอาหารฟิวชั่นไทย-จีนร่วมสมัย ที่ถ่ายทอดเรื่องราวของครอบครัวผ่านอาหาร Chef’s Table การต้อนรับ และการพักอาศัย ทำให้ผู้มาเยือนไม่ได้เพียงเฝ้ามองอดีต แต่สามารถเข้าไปมีประสบการณ์ร่วมกับความทรงจำนั้น

จากสวนป่าริมลำเซบาย จังหวัดอุบลราชธานี ที่ได้รับการดูแลต่อเนื่องมากว่า 20 ปี สู่พื้นที่สำหรับพระสงฆ์ ครอบครัว และกัลยาณมิตรในการปฏิบัติธรรม
สถาปัตยกรรมไม่ได้เข้าไปแทนที่ความสงบที่มีอยู่ แต่ทำหน้าที่ จัดระเบียบและเสริมสภาวะของสถานที่ ผ่านความสัมพันธ์ระหว่างสวนป่า พื้นที่ปฏิบัติ และสถาปัตยกรรมที่ได้รับแรงบันดาลใจจากมรดกทางวัฒนธรรมของอุบลราชธานี แล้วนำมาตีความใหม่สำหรับการใช้งานร่วมสมัย

A glimpse from the Sawasdee D.C. 2026 Press Conference, hosted by the Royal Thai Embassy, Washington D.C.
This year, CODE Studio takes on the role of Festival Director, shaping the overall concept, creative direction, and festival experience of Sawasdee DC Thai Festival 2026 — transforming Pennsylvania Avenue into a vibrant Thai street where culture is not simply presented, but experienced.
2026 marks a particularly meaningful moment: as the United States celebrates its 250th anniversary, Sawasdee D.C. also celebrates 193 years of friendship and relations between Thailand and the United States — bringing this long-standing connection to life through culture, creativity, and people.

THAI POP-UP: WHAT’S UP, D.C.?

For one day, Thailand pops up in the heart of Washington, D.C. — bringing the sights, sounds, flavors, creativity, and energy of Thailand to Pennsylvania Avenue.
At the press conference, we offered a first glimpse of what’s coming through the CHUD THAI PAVILION — where Thai architecture, dress, and contemporary craft come together through architectural drawings by Nathakrit Tatan Sunthareerat, a presentation of Thai traditional dress by SACIT สถาบันส่งเสริมศิลปหัตถกรรมไทย, and contemporary craft by Vassanadesign — weaving together different expressions of Thai heritage and creativity in Washington, D.C.
Alongside the pavilion, the press conference came alive with a vibrant mix of Thai experiences — craft, food, Muay Thai, traditional massage, music and performances by Thai artists, and Thai travel experiences — a small preview of the many ways Thailand will come to life at Sawasdee D.C. 2026.
It was exciting to see the ideas we have been developing come to life — and even more exciting to see the energy, enthusiasm, and connections already growing around this year’s festival.
