When laying out the lighting design for Frantzén, we carefully considered the architectural character of the site and its distinctive cultural signature.
Landscaping : Matteo Messervy
Client : Villa Frantzén
Location : Bangkok, Thailand
Our concept drew from the unique quality of northern light and how ScandInavian cultures have developed a particular relationship to it and the deep psychological and emotional impact it has on people. The high contrasts of luminance between seasons with its low angles and slow, beautiful day-night transitions of long sunrises, sunsets and endless nights .
The importance of the fireplace and candlelight , the symbolic prevalence of amber or “Nordic Gold '', with its warm radiant hues and reflections, along with the clean, pure, airy lines that aim to put an emphasis on atmosphere and wellness rather than just brightness.
Light becomes a therapeutic medium and a language that establishes a sensorial, healing experience and an interactive dialogue between people, nature and the built environment. Leading to a human-centered lighting design that would focus on both well-being, aesthetics and functionality.
