UBON RATCHATHANI AIRPORT RENOVATION
Airport & Transportation Infrastructure | Ubon Ratchathani, Thailand
A renovation project that reimagines the existing Ubon Ratchathani Airport through a contemporary architectural language rooted in local identity.
The design draws inspiration from the lotus — a symbol closely associated with Ubon Ratchathani — together with patterns derived from the province’s local textile heritage. These elements are reinterpreted through the façade as rhythm, layering, proportion, and material expression rather than being applied as literal ornament.
Working with the existing airport structure, the renovation aims to create a stronger architectural identity while improving the overall arrival experience and visual character of the terminal.
The result is a renewed gateway that connects existing architecture, regional identity, and contemporary transportation design within one cohesive expression. The project forms part of the Runway End Safety Area and Airport Infrastructure Improvement Project for the Department of Airports.
