Seminar Title: A Visionary Flow: From Strategic Leverage to Transboundary Resilience
Session 1: The Macro-Strategy
Speaker: Mr. Sajjapongs Lekuthai, Design Director of Landprocess
Topic: Water as Leverage: Mediating Complexity through Design-Led Governance
In this session, Sajjapongs Lekuthai explores the adaptation of the "Water as Leverage" framework within the Thai context. Moving beyond traditional top-down engineering, this approach uses landscape design as a primary tool to facilitate a deeply participatory process. Sajjapongs will detail how design-led governance bridges the gap between national-scale policies and localized river basin realities. By breaking down institutional silos, the process fosters unprecedented collaboration among local communities, key stakeholders, Thai government agencies, and international organizations. Framing water as a unifier rather than a threat, this session demonstrates how Landprocess navigates complex political and environmental landscapes to build consensus, ensuring that resource allocation and water management are both equitable and ecologically sound.
Session 2: The Tactical Intervention
Speaker: Mr. Touchapon Suntrajarn, Principal of Landscape Collaboration
Topic: Healing the Kok: A Visionary Plan for Transboundary Arsenic Remediation
Touchapon Suntrajarn presents a visionary landscape intervention designed to tackle the critical challenge of transboundary arsenic pollution in the Kok River, Thailand. This session highlights a bold shift from conceptual planning to on-the-ground reality. By utilizing the river’s natural morphology, the proposal diverts contaminated flow into restored oxbow lakes, using "slow water" and targeted plant species for phytoremediation to bio-accumulate heavy metals. Touchapon will share how Landscape Collaboration is currently transforming this ambitious vision into a tangible prototype project. Serving as a live demonstration and research site, this prototype tests the technical integration of eco-hydraulics and biological restoration. The session underscores how localized, nature-based prototypes can evolve into scalable, high-impact solutions, actively healing polluted transboundary waterways
