Is Chiang Mai Slowly Losing the Beauty of Its Urban Landscape?
Chiang Mai is taking important steps toward becoming a UNESCO World Heritage Site under the nomination of the historic Lanna capital. However, recent discussions have highlighted concerns about the city's urban landscape, including visual clutter from signage, inconsistent streetscapes, and the need to better preserve the historic character of the Old City before international evaluation.

Improving green spaces, reducing visual pollution, designing pedestrian-friendly environments, and using materials that reflect Chiang Mai's unique Lanna heritage can significantly enhance both the city's character and the quality of life for its residents.

🇹🇭 เชียงใหม่...กำลังสูญเสียเสน่ห์ของภูมิทัศน์เมืองหรือไม่?
เชียงใหม่กำลังอยู่ในช่วงสำคัญของการผลักดันให้ "เชียงใหม่ นครหลวงแห่งล้านนา" ได้รับการขึ้นทะเบียนเป็นมรดกโลก แต่หลายฝ่ายได้แสดงความกังวลว่า ภูมิทัศน์ของเมืองเก่า ยังมีหลายประเด็นที่ต้องได้รับการปรับปรุง เช่น ความไม่เป็นระเบียบของป้ายโฆษณา การใช้พื้นที่สาธารณะ และองค์ประกอบทางกายภาพที่อาจส่งผลต่อภาพลักษณ์ของเมืองประวัติศาสตร์ หากไม่ได้รับการจัดการอย่างเหมาะสม อาจกระทบต่อความพร้อมในการประเมินของ ICOMOS ได้

เราเชื่อว่าการเพิ่มพื้นที่สีเขียว การจัดระเบียบป้ายและสายตาเมือง (Visual Quality) การเลือกใช้วัสดุที่สอดคล้องกับบริบทล้านนา รวมถึงการออกแบบพื้นที่สาธารณะที่เป็นมิตรต่อคนเดิน จะช่วยยกระดับคุณภาพชีวิตของคนเชียงใหม่ และทำให้เมืองมีความพร้อมมากขึ้นสำหรับการเป็นมรดกโลก
ภูมิทัศน์ที่ดี ไม่ได้สร้างเพียง "เมืองที่สวย" แต่สร้าง "เมืองที่ผู้คนอยากอยู่"
