Concrete cracks aren't always about settling. Usually, they're preventable mistakes made BEFORE the concrete sets.
Here are the 5 most common reasons:
1️⃣ Poor Foundation Prep: Concrete poured directly on loose, unprepared soil, instead of a properly compacted base. Your foundation has nothing solid to rest on.
2️⃣ Low Quality Materials: Cheap cement, ungraded aggregates, contaminated water. Your concrete is weak at the molecular level. Cracks happen within MONTHS, not years.
3️⃣ Improper Curing Practice: Concrete needs 7-28 days of proper moisture and temperature control. If you rush this, you can get about 50% of the concrete's potential strength.
4️⃣ Incorrect Concrete Mixes: Wrong water-to-cement ratio. Improper aggregate sizing. Inconsistent mix designs.
5️⃣ Not Choosing CADCO DESIGN STUDIO as Your Contractor. Just kidding (But also... not really) 😅 We don't cut corners on any of these. Proper prep. Premium materials. Engineering-backed mixes.
Save this post if you're planning to build. These aren't small details, they're the difference between a foundation that lasts 50 years and one that fails in 5.
