Introducing our solar-powered community water project implemented in Buwaiswa Village, Kamuli District, Uganda.
This project was funded by SELF through the R**E HURTS Foundation .org , based in Jinja with grassroots operations in Kamuli District.
Designed to deliver reliable, sustainable, and accessible clean water, this project demonstrates how renewable energy can transform communities while reducing dependence on conventional energy sources.
Project Highlights:
✅ 700-meter water distribution network
✅ 7 community tap stands, each with 2 water outlets for improved access
✅ 63mm HDPE main pipeline with 25mm branch connections
✅ 8-meter elevated water tower utilizing gravity-fed distribution—eliminating the need for electrical pressure boosting
✅ 6 × Jinko Solar 475W photovoltaic modules
✅ Lorentz PS2-400 solar water pump designed for a maximum head of 30 meters and a flow rate of up to 42m³/hour
✅ 20,000-liter water storage capacity through two 10,000-liter tanks
✅ Solar-powered security lighting installed to enhance the safety of both the generation site and facility entrance
