EXCESSIVE HEAT INFORMATION

Dear Valued Customer,

As we continue to experience periods of extreme summer heat, we would like to make you aware that high ambient temperatures can affect the operation of elevator equipment.

Elevator controllers, machine rooms, and other electrical components are designed to operate within specific temperature ranges.

When temperatures exceed these limits, the equipment's built-in safety features may automatically shut the elevator down to protect critical components from damage. With older equipment there are no safety features so equipment will fail and become damaged in extreme heat. While this can be inconvenient, these safety measures help prevent more serious equipment failures.

To help minimize the risk of heat-related shutdowns, we recommend the following:

- Ensure machine rooms and control spaces are properly ventilated and air-conditioned, where applicable.
- Keep doors to equipment rooms closed to maintain a controlled environment.
- Verify that cooling systems are operating correctly, especially during periods of extreme heat.
- Notify us immediately if you notice unusually high temperatures in your elevator equipment room or if your elevator experiences intermittent shutdowns.


If your elevator does shut down due to excessive heat, please contact our office. Our technicians will respond as quickly as possible to restore service and verify that the equipment is operating safely.

We’re proud to have attended the NAEC Spring Education Conference, held March 22–25, 2026, at The Westin Long Beach in California.

The event brought together elevator contractors, suppliers, and industry professionals for valuable education sessions, meaningful networking, and the latest insights into the elevator industry.

At Jersey Elevator, we're committed to continuous learning and professional development. Attending this conference allowed us to gain new knowledge, connect with fellow industry leaders, and bring fresh ideas back to better serve our clients in New Jersey and beyond.
