A few wasps flying around may not seem like a big deal, but it could be a sign that a nest is nearby. Typically the queen will start laying eggs in the spring, so by the summer all those eggs have hatched and become workers. These flying insects are termite swarmers. They are the reproductive termites looking to start new colonies. Termite swarmers are weak fliers and heavily rely on the wind to carry them. They usually fly only 25-300 ft from the original colony- and if you're seeing them or discarded wings, it's a sign a colony is already in or very near your home!

Did you know it is recommended to avoid bat exclusions between mid-May through mid-August?

The reason is, this is their maternity season. Baby bats, called pups, are flightless and present in roosts. Not only can this cause them to starve, but mothers will become frantic and try to find another way in to get to their pups.
