We got to be creative with this job and had tons of fun. Various carpentry skills were utilized to complete this project including Shou Sugu Ban which is a burnt wood finish.

We enclosed the upstairs and downstairs porches. The lap siding is original and dates back to 1920. We stained and finished with poly. The trim is white pine rough lumber which is burnt and finished with linseed oil. The walls are 2x6 and sheeted with yellow pine bead board and finished with the highest quality bright white exterior paint. The barn door was custom built with 2x6s and finished with linseed oil.

We made some really good friends and enjoyed working together. I look forward to more builds like this one. Let us help you on your next project!

Shou Sugi Ban or Yakisugi is a Japanese decorative woodburning technique. Boards are burnt then cleaned up and finished with boiled linseed oil for indoor projects or polyurethane for outdoors
