Here's a little before & after of a bed refresh for a great couple we had the pleasure to assist.
Their front bed was overgrown, they love the roses but wanted to move them around, and add a few more plants.
We could've told them "yes," to all of that but we knew that wasn't the best option for them right now. Transplanting rose bushes in the heat of the Summer was too risky and we didn't want them to lose them. We also didn't want to just add new plants, without being able to rearrange it more aesthetically.
So, we recommended that they just start with us tearing out the old mulch, w**d eating, digging out and resetting the bed edge blocks.
They appreciated us giving an opinion that was more concerned with their long-term happiness, rather than just trying to get as much money out of the job as possible.
And of course, we told them we would be thrilled to come back for a phase 2 to make those other adjustments when the weather was more appropriate.
