Hiring for a Foreman Position!
Willamette Valley Excavating
Location: Willamette Valley, Oregon | On-site at our construction projects
Pay: $35–$45 per hour, depending on skills and experience
A Little Bit About Us:
At Willamette Valley Excavating, we do the work that gets a project off the ground. From excavation and grading to underground utilities, we help build the places where our communities live, work and gather. We take pride in doing the job right, keeping our commitments and bringing the same attention to detail to every project.
The kind of person you are matters here. We’re looking for a foreman who works hard, stays humble and wants to keep growing—and who helps the people around them do the same.
Our Mission:
Do quality work we can stand behind, take care of our people and customers, and keep getting better at what we do. Around here, that starts with a simple expectation: Work Hard, Stay Humble, Keep Growing.
Here’s a Taste of Our Benefits:
• 100% employer-paid health insurance
• Long-term disability insurance
• 401(k) retirement plan
• 40 hours of paid sick leave
• Company-provided 1-ton truck
• Company-provided cell phone
• Fun summer and Christmas company parties!
Where and How You’d Work:
You’ll be out on the jobsite, working alongside your crew and coordinating with your superintendent. Expect early planning, changing conditions and plenty of problem-solving. You’ll set the tone for the day, keep people informed and help everyone pull in the same direction. A good day means productive work, a crew that’s learning and everyone going home safely.
What You’d Do in This Role:
You’d lead the daily work of an excavation crew, turning the project plan into clear goals and safe, quality production. That means running morning huddles and weekly toolbox talks, assigning responsibilities and coaching crew members on what we do, how we do it and why it matters.
You’d stay ahead with a three-day look-ahead, coordinate daily with your superintendent and inspectors, and order the next day’s trucks by 2 p.m. You’d oversee PPE, trench and confined-space safety and required reports; keep tools, equipment and your truck ready for work; and complete accurate daily timecards, production quantities, cost codes, photos and job reports in HeavyJob.
You’re Probably a Match If:
• You have experience in excavation, grading or underground utilities and can confidently lead a crew through the work.
• You work hard, show up prepared and are willing to jump in when your crew needs a hand.
• You stay humble. You listen, own your mistakes and give credit to the people doing the work.
• You want to grow. You welcome feedback, ask questions and are open to a better way of doing things.
• You enjoy teaching others and can give clear direction, steady encouragement and honest feedback.
• You plan ahead, communicate early and keep a positive attitude when the day doesn’t go as planned.
• You take safety and quality seriously, and you’re comfortable using technology to keep accurate job records.
What Winning Looks Like
• Everyone on your crew knows the day’s goal, their role and the safety concerns before work begins.
• Your crew delivers quality work and meets production goals through good planning and safe practices.
• Your superintendent stays informed, trucks are ordered on time and upcoming needs are addressed early.
• Crew members grow in skill, confidence and responsibility because you take time to teach them.
• Your jobsite is organized, equipment is cared for and daily reporting is accurate and complete.
Other Stuff to Know:
We mean it when we say hard work, humility and a willingness to grow. That shows up in the everyday choices: pitching in, listening to a crew member’s idea, admitting when something needs to be fixed and following through. You don’t have to know everything. You do need to care about your work, your crew and getting better.
If that sounds like your kind of team, we’d love to hear from you. Apply today and tell us about your experience—and what you’re ready to grow into next.
