I see this quite often on kitchen remodels. A lot of kitchen drains were roughed in at 16-18". One thing to consider before getting that new counter top and extra deep sink, is the height of the drain. When adding a deep sink and a disposal, there is a good chance the drain will need to be lowered.
If your having a counter top company doing everything give us a call to determine if the drain needs to be lowered.

A little history about myself and plumbing career. I started right out of high school going to Century College for plumbing. I got hired by my teacher who owned a small family owned plumbing company. I worked with this company for 4.5yrs until he shut the doors in 2008 to work for a large union company. I followed him there and worked for Centraire 14.5yrs. It was a great place for me to learn a lot about the trade and get to where I'm at today. I've done very large projects to the smallest service work. Some projects include medical buildings, restraunts, custom homes, daycares to water heaters, water softners/ whole home filtration, minor clogged drains and rpz testing.
My goal starting KT Plumbing Services is to provide a professional service. I take pride in my work and will work for your needs and wants.
I grew up on the east side of town in Maplewood but currently call Albertville my home for the past 10 plus years with my beautiful wife and family.
