Custom Diamond Ground™ Polished Concrete System
This floor features a custom cream-to-salt-and-pepper exposure achieved through precision diamond grinding and concrete refinement. Structural cracks, surface voids, pinholes, and imperfections were repaired using Smith's Poly PCF-45, a low-viscosity polyurethane repair material designed to pe*****te and stabilize cracks while creating a grindable, polishable surface. �
Smith Paints
The repair material was custom blended with onsite grinding dust, selected aggregates, and mineral fillers to better match the surrounding concrete and reduce the appearance of repairs after polishing. Following crack stabilization and grouting, the slab was mechanically refined through multiple diamond-grinding stages to create a uniform, natural concrete appearance while preserving the character of the slab.
The finished system showcases:
Custom crack and defect restoration using Smith's PCF-45
Cream-to-light salt-and-pepper aggregate exposure
Enhanced surface density through mechanical refinement
Natural concrete aesthetics without topical coatings
Renewable, breathable concrete surface

As a concrete restoration professional, the work doesn't stop when I leave the jobsite.
Even at home, I'm still working—maintaining machines, rebuilding equipment, ordering parts, testing materials, and preparing solutions for the next project.
This weekend is dedicated to developing crack repair samples for an upcoming concrete floor with extensive cracking. Thanks to Josh Jones and the team at Smith Paint Products, we're testing PCF-45 with multiple aggregate combinations to determine which blend provides the best color match, grindability, and long-term performance.
Current test blends include:
