LAND SURVEY CREW MEMBER
Precision Surveys, Inc. has an opening for a reliable entry level land survey crew member working on a federal contract along the Rio Grande from Isleta Pueblo south to the southern boundary of the Bosque del Apache Wildlife Refuge near San Marcial, NM. You will be part of a 4-to-6-person team. In addition to your basic rate of pay, this project includes the additional payment of the current federal fringe benefit rate.
The surveying trade is challenging mentally and physically. You will be constantly learning new skills and doing so in the woods instead of the city. You will get dirty and will be challenged every day.
Travel will be required, meaning you will have to stay in hotels on Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday nights as needed. The company pays for the hotel, and you will be given the Federal per diem rate for meals and incidentals. It is currently $59 per day, and it is in addition to your hourly wage.
This physically demanding job involves the following tasks:
• Carrying in equipment through heavy brush to river’s edge
• “Swamping” which is removing cut debris from brushed lines
• Brushing line with a chainsaw or brusher after successfully completing safety training
• Set missing endpoints
• Help run differential levels
To be considered for this position, you need to do the following:
• Be physically fit and able to pass a pre-employment physical exam. This means you must be able to frequently stand, bend, stoop, and kneel. You must have the ability to use your arms, hands, fingers, knees, and hips to reach up and down. You must have the ability to lift and carry 25-50 pounds of equipment or supplies on a frequent basis and to occasionally lift up to 75 pounds. You must have the ability to walk or hike, climb, balance, crouch, or crawl in rough, uneven terrain. You must have the ability to work in remote areas and frequently be exposed to outdoor elements, such as sun, rain, snow, wind, wildlife, rough terrain, and extreme temperatures.
• Have an in-person interview
• Have a valid NM Driver’s license
• Be approved to drive a company vehicle by insurance company
• Pass a pre-employment background check
• Pass a pre-employment drug/alcohol screen
• Have reliable transportation to get to the office
In addition, you must be able to:
• Swim and work out of boats, if needed
• Do this job safely and pay attention to and follow the requirements of safety training
