The Critical Mass is proud to support the NASA - National Aeronautics and Space Administration Sounding Rocket Operations Contract (NSROC) and the incredible people behind it.

In November, TCM’s CEO Elizabeth Jordan Wilhelm and Operations Manager Mariya Chukhnova visited Wallops Flight Facility to meet with the extraordinary team of technicians, engineers, and mechanics who build and launch sounding rockets in support of scientific and research missions around the world.

We left deeply impressed by the team's technical skill, precision, and dedication to advancing research through reliable, mission-ready launch capability. Their work is critical to advancing global science, and we are honored that TCM can contribute to this vital effort.

Let’s explore the space together! 🌎 🚀 🌖

The Critical Mass is pleased to renew our partnership with the General Energy Institute of the National Academy of Sciences of Ukraine (GEI).

GEI continues to play a vital role in Ukraine’s energy research landscape, contributing scientific expertise and practical solutions amidst extraordinary challenges. From navigating wartime disruptions to reimagining resilient infrastructure, the Institute is advancing critical work to support Ukraine’s energy independence and long-term recovery.

Through this renewed collaboration, TCM reaffirms its commitment to supporting Ukraine’s technical and scientific institutions. We’re proud to stand with GEI as they push forward essential research in sustainable energy, planning, and systems resilience.

Thank you, Artur Zaporozhets, for your coordination and facilitation of this partnership.

The Critical Mass is deeply grateful to the Educational and Scientific Center for Innovative Technologies in Humanitarian Demining at the Igor Sikorsky Kyiv Polytechnic Institute and the General Energy Institute of NAS of Ukraine for hosting Mariya Chukhnova, our International Security Specialist and Operations Manager.

During her visit, Mariya met with Volodymyr Melnyk, Director of the Educational and Scientific Center for Innovative Technologies in Humanitarian Demining; Oksana Vovk, Director of the Educational and Scientific Institute of Energy Saving and Energy Management, founder of the Center, and scientific consultant; Oksana Tverda, Deputy Director for Educational Affairs, Doctor of Technical Sciences, and Professor; Nataliya Zuevska, Head of the Department of Geoengineering, Doctor of Technical Sciences, and Professor; and Artur Zaporozhets, Deputy Director at the General Energy Institute of NASU.

The team at the Center is one of the leading entities systematizing humanitarian demining and clearance in Ukraine and is working with a variety of partners to prepare technical and humanitarian demining experts, advanced R&D, and to counter threats to stabilization and recovery.

Ukraine now faces the grim distinction of being one of the most UXO-contaminated countries in the world. Every part of its landscape - from forests and rivers to cities, villages, schools, farmland, and industrial sites - have been littered with mines and unexploded ordnance - these are a lethal, indiscriminate threat that impedes return to homes, industry, agriculture, and infrastructure.

Our Ukrainian colleagues and partners are tireless, and they continue to apply expertise, commitment, and vision to address this monumental challenge. Their work is a powerful example of resilience and innovation in the face of one of the world’s most complex and humanitarian crises.

During her recent trip to Ukraine, Mariya Chukhnova — TCM’s Operations Manager and International Security Specialist — met with our long-standing partners, the Center for Analytical Studies and Countering Hybrid Threats (CASCHT) in Kyiv.

In the course of this meeting, Mariya and CASCHT’s Director, Major-General (Ret.) Serhiy Savchenko, discussed the Center’s ongoing and critical work, including their efforts to expand and refine Ukraine’s sanctions policy, as well as their research and analytical initiatives focused on understanding and countering hybrid warfare processes on economic, political, and social fronts.

TCM is deeply grateful for this partnership. The CASCHT team’s resilience, expertise, and commitment are inspiring. Their work represents an essential contribution not only to Ukraine’s security but to the broader efforts to strengthen global security and democracy.
