Tiger Woods was the inspiration for me to wear red on Fridays. Tiger always wore red on Sunday in a golf tournament, because it was the color that represented victory in his mother’s home country.
I felt that making payroll on Fridays in a small company was a victory. I’m proud to say that I made payroll every week for 46 years!

Gary was my original partner when we established Cub Run Builders in 1977. It’s only fitting that we collaborated on creating these ”parklets” outside the Warehouse Restaurant and Burke & Herbert Bank. The panels are made of ipe. The gutter is spanned by 1/4” steel.

We are installing a 500 lb. Metal balcony on the second floor. The balcony was wider than the scaffolding, so we stood the balcony on end and built the scaffolding around it. We were able to hoist the balcony up about 10 feet. Then we disassembled all but two sections, and rotated the balcony. Next we installed a custom made pair of brackets and used two electric hoists to raise the balcony into it’s final location. I’m pleased to say that no one got injured moving this massive balcony - safety first!

Today we celebrated the last Cub Run Christmas Party at our warehouse / shop / office. I cannot express how wonderful this group of people are. It’s been a pleasure to work with them for decades.
We will complete the work we have ongoing, which will likely take until around June. At that point, we will be officially retired.
Merry Christmas, and a happy new year to all from the Cubbies.
