Before Saturday night be sure to have any exposed piping outside or underneath of your home insulated. Pipe insulation can be purchased from Home Depot or Lowes. Make sure all hoses are removed from hose bibs and the hose bibs insulated as well. You can let your faucets drip a very very small amount to help with the freezing. Check in your attic as well for any exposed piping that may need to be insulated. Turn off sprinkler systems and backflows. Backflows should be drained and insulated as well. There are multiple YouTube videos that can show you how to do this. Also if your home will be vacant during this time or your piping is extremely worn you can shut the water off at the meter or shut off valve and drain all water out of the pipes during this time. However we don't recommend staying at the home without water, unless you have plenty stocked up for drinking, cooking or flushing toilets. If your pipes do freeze be sure to leave a faucet open in a tub so that the air can slowly start to help de-thaw the piping once it warms up to help try to avoid a burst pipe. If you are unable to complete freeze checks and preparations, we will have plumbers on call this weekend through Tuesday. The office will be closed but the phones will still be answered and calls can still be dispatched out. Stay warm and stay safe!
