Hastings Hill was a study in sustainability, employing passive solar strategies and geothermal heating. Window size, placement, and house orientation were all carefully studied to allow maximum sunlight in the winter and reducing summer heat loads. Physical models are used as design tools in every project.

It is a glorious sunny day...perfect to set a foundation and begin construction on Hastings Hill on the West Branch in Allegany. Dave and Barb Hastings have a new home right across the street from their present home, it is a beautiful story of a family that truly values what matters in life. One of the key elements to this project is an ICF (insulated concrete form) foundation system. This particular system is brought on site in prefabricated blocks, similar to legos. This allows the contractor to quickly and accurately build the foundation with little waste. The white styrofoam on either side provides excellent insulation, and the black straps allow the siding and interior drywall to be directly applied without any additional elements needed. The forms are filled with concrete, and become one integral system.

Currently under construction is the Potter Residence on Smith Hollow Road in Allegany, NY. The contractor is Joe Crisafulli. The project is humming along beautifully and will hopefully be enclosed before the true fall weather starts.
